And does that sound like a Holland trade? Two roster players in the top 9 being shipped out.



I made myself sad. I don't see any solutions that wouldn't involve a massive surprise change in behavior from Holland. Before the cap crunch the Fowler deal seemed doable. Now? Not so much.

Not calling you out, but just being the voice of the rebuild.

There are no solutions currently.

The "value" Detroit has is in their young players, the guys they can't move.

And Holland has put the team against the cap rather than trading dead weight.

I really feel sorry for the GM that has to deal with this mess...unless it's Holland.

All cap with no assets. Completely lopsided on the wrong side of contention.

Had they not just loaded up on veteran forwards yet again, I would've happily rolled the dice on two separate trades to ship out both Tatar and Nyquist to help the defense. The further drop in scoring likely would've come with a top 10 pick next summer, maybe even top 5, and forwards in that range are much more certain than defensemen.
