Didn’t pass the Rangers that’s for sure. I mean Kakko, Kravtsov, Miller, Lundkvist, Lindgren, Fox, Andersson is ridiculous. Then the young guys in the NHL like Chytil, Howden, Georgiev. Not even close.

KK
Caufield
Primeau
Poehling
Ylonen
Suzuki
Brook
Romanov
Mete
Juulsen
Fleury

vs

Kakko
Kravtsov
Miller
Lundkvist
Lindgren
Fox
Andersson
Chytil
Howden
Georgiev

I wouldnt swap our prosppects pool, that is pretty close...

I don't know if they have the best prospect pool as I don't know every other team's pools. But I have to believe it's right up there with the best prospect pools in the league. They've really turned it around the last few drafts. Today's second to seventh round will also determine how their prospect pool will rank among the NHL's.

No chance - missing top end talent. Give it to NJ or NYR if you don't include NHL players (like Kotkaniemi) just on the virtue of Kakko and Hughes.

Very good pool though, i voted top 5. But none of our guys are necessarily franchise/elite players like a Matthews or Dahlin.

Montreal lacks a Jack Hughes/Lafreniere/Dahlin type game breaker but the good news is Boston, St.Louis, Vegas don't have any crazy top-end superstars and were still able to make some noise. I like the depth we are building with good players, but no superstars. That should allow us to be a playoff team for years to come and have a good chance to go far. That is the way most teams are being built now anyway, with 31 teams and the cap there is just too much parity so unless you get lucky all you can do is assemble a solid line-up and hope for the best.

Plus with the lottery you can't even tank properly, so trying to build with 1st or 2nd overall picks is risky. Even if you do, you might end up like BUF, FLA or EDM

Our guys are better, 1v1 all they have is Kakko over Caufield. All of our other prospects are better then theirs at their given positions.

KK is not a prospect anymore, if we start to play this game a lot of teams can add their 1st year elite players to their pool.

Caufield
Suzuki
Brooks
Poehling
Romanov

This is top-10 though.

If we had a Kalyev/Lavoie type in the second round we could have a sexy prospect pool for sure.

Suzuki will be a center IMO, behind KK and Poehling. Eventually, we will be rolling something like this.

Domi-Poehling-Caufield
Lehkonen-KK-Armia
Drouin-Suzuki-Ylonen
Danault

Romanov-Brook
Mete-Juulsen

Maybe they do. Too bad Julien will give Danault icetime over guys like Caulfield at wing and even Romanov on D because of Danault’s feelings

:sarcasm:

What does giving ice time to a two-way center have to do with a winger and a D? Is Danault going to play RW and LHD at some point in the next 5 years?

Did a quick prospect ranking. That's deeeep! After 15th, the prospects are pretty interchangeable depending on preference.

Looking at what the Habs seem to have in mind, I can see a few graduate this coming season. The LHD looks to be wide open for a rookie unless Mete puts it together. Guys like Reiley, Xman Kulak are either depth or about to solidify their spot....I see the latter except Kulak. Who in our roster could come in a dominate at LD aside from Romanov(dough he come to NA) ? They expect Alzner to bounce back and I don't mind him for button pairing and depth. Been is as good as gone.

Upfront gets interesting with guys like Poehling, Suzuki looking to make the roster and we do have a bunch of guys Like McCarron, looking to make a jump. Huddon is as good as gone IMO, and Peca just hasn't cut it. Weal's got potential, but what do you do with Byron, Shaw, Lehkonen and Armia? You can't keep all if you want to go with youth. Armia is the only one with size, but he's no banger, solid but not a PFW.

My top 50 affiliated prospect list tells me
Colorado has #3, #8, #9 and around 10+ other good prospects
Vegas has #4, 12, 21, 30 and around 7+ other good prospects
Montreal has 13, 18. 23, 25, 32 and around 11 other good prospects.

I'd go with Colorado because Newhook, Byram and Makar is just insane top end talent, plus I'm really high on Timmins even with the injuries.

Montreal is in there with NJ and NYR for the 3rd spot, Vegas is a clear number two.

Top 5 easily. We went from having absolutely nobody to where we are now in only a couple years.

I can even see an argument for the Habs having the best prospect pool.

Top 5, but really hard to compare to other teams around there and definitively say one, or the other is better.

Carolina, Montreal, Detroit, Rangers and I'm not really sure who would round out the top 5, but you do notice that these teams have either missed the playoffs before this year, or are in the midst of a playoff drought. Having a top prospect pool usually means your NHL team sucks.

Which is even more encouraging because our team is already pretty good and young. I like where this team is headed.

Should continue to get better too. 9 more picks next year.
Not sure if my math is right but 28 picks (2018-20) over 3 years
