Dhaliwal, probably the most connected Canuck insider, says that he has heard from multiple sources that the Canucks and Sens are still in a heated conversation regarding a trade.

There was of course speculation last week that a Myers for Zaitsev ( plus other players) deal was close to being done but the 2 teams couldnt agree on adding or not addint an asset based on Myers being owed a hefty 5mil dollar bonus this July 1.

Will be interesting to follow to see if something gets done by this weekend but Dhaliwal is not one to speculate without concrete source that something is close or in the works.

If the speculation is centered around Myers and Zaitsev - you’re in a different ballpark, league, and sport to start talking Zub.

Zaitsev/Myers would be a change of scenery deal for irrelevant players. Zub is a fantastic solid top 4. It’s not the same discussion

Speculation is the key word, nobody actually confirmed it was Zaitsev the Canucks were targeting last week. It just so happened that Zaitsev's name was brought up because he was just placed on waivers.

For all we know the framework is Myers for Zub with assets added from whichever side.

Zub would be a fantastic target for the Canucks.

Zaitsev for Myers just seems like a lateral move based on financial savings.

If it’s clear that Zub doesn’t want to extend, I still think we should hold onto him and let him walk (while trying to convince him until the very last second).

The trickle down pressure losing Zub will cause to our already fragile defensive core is not worth whatever he returns + losing him.

We need a culture change, I have no idea how the room will react to selling in November.

Assets added from whichever side???

If there were discussions about Zub there would be a lot more teams connected to the speculation and the timing makes no sense right now.

Do Canucks fans actually think they're good enough to be trading for rentals?

If its Zub obviously they would be targeting him to resign him long term.

Canucks Russian contingency has improved lately with the additions of Podkolzin, Mikhayev and Kuzmenko

Regardless if they trade for him or not, i believe Zub will be a big time target for the Canucks if he hits free agency.

well why not both?

dhaliwal's main sources are agents. milstein is zub and zaitsev's agent and also the agent of kuzmenko, mikhaeyev and klimovich on the canucks. dhaliwal was all over the signing of each of those canucks.

Er, what?

Why is Ottawa kicking in a prospect for the Chaos Giraffe (who has a $6M cap hit for next season) and an underwhelming player?

This whole thread is hilarity.

Podkolzin scored 14 goals as a 20 yr old rookie. He is going through the sophomore slump for sure but underwhelming is not a word id describe him.
