So what exactly in my post do you disagree with?

It's very simple. A win is a win, but score watchers will think this was a dominant performance by the team. Personally, I don't think a coach should be having a several minute press conference talking as if they played a good game / made the right roster moves....when this game easily could have gone the other way (considering the team has sucked and they were playing the worst team in the league at home). Score is misleading because it was a fairly evenly played game overall. Simple.

Most 5-1 wins aren't dominant performances either. Teams don't win games wire to wire, crushing the other team into submission for 60 minutes, very often. A 5-1 win is usually a relatively even-played game where one team gets goaltending and breaks and the other team does not.

Unless the other team is us

Are we at the point where we can look at 5-1 wins as not good enough?

5-1 wins against the worst team in the league when we’re the 2nd worst don’t mean a damn thing, this season is already lost and no major changes seem to be coming.

you know what’s not good enough?

-having 20 points through 22 games
-having a -22 goal difference
-being dead last in goals for AGAIN
-being outscored in the 3rd period by 18 goals
-being a slow, soft, boring team

So yeah who cares if we win 5-1, it doesn’t mean a damn thing for this season

You know what helps your goal differential, point differential, being dead last in goals for, and being outscored in the 3rd period? It's winning 5-1 when you score 4 goals in the 3rd period.

Yeah sure, but next game we're probably gonna get destroyed again so whatever. Team needs to earn the enthusiasm of the fans again and a win against the only team in the league worse than us is not gonna do that. In fact, this win probably did more harm than anything.

That's the saddest thing. Even when the team does win you cant really get too excited because the season's already over.

I was already thinking about the draft, next year, FA names available, potential trade assets, etc.... by mid-October, which is just sickening.

Over 7 minutes after a win haha.

Oh my f***ing God this guy is delusional!!! He actually thinks his AHL turds win him games!:loony:

...and if he thinks being tied in the 1st period against the worst team is the league is "adversity", the only Stanley Cup he's ever going to have a chance at winning is one worn by some guy named Stanley.

When asked about Domingue, Hynes talked more about his "ability to move the puck" and transition to offense, than he talked about his ability to.....uhhh....you know... stop the puck.

I've never seen an NHL coach so 100% completely obsessed with offense before.

Domingue was noticeably solid moving the puck though. It's one of the things people pointed towards with Brodeur being able to negate dump ins and stuff because he'd move it up ice. Domingue obviously isn't that but he looked way better than anyone since Marty moving the puck, albeit in one game vs a horribad Detroit squad.

Odd comment given we are the 5th best team in shots against this year.

The bigger concern this season is that we are playing too conservatively and thus stifling our own offensive players.

we’re not playing conservatively at all, we just don’t have any semblance of a system. Everything is on the perimeter, lots of shots from the half wall or point shots that never make it through. We gain the zone and whoever has the puck immediately stops and plays the puck back to the point or they just lose possession. The staff has no clue how to utilize talent at all, just look at the power play. We are constantly battling for the puck, our players never have time to operate, nobody moves around. They are so in-love with a “net front presence” and it literally never does anything because it’s usually some plug with no hands in front. Our defenseman besides Vatanen are horrible at getting shots through.

Just another year of Hynes hockey, boring and listless

Don't worry. Give it a few weeks and Rollie Melanson will coach any semblance of solid goaltending right out of him.

1)I find it hard to say we have no semblance of a system and that we are not playing conservative while we have been a good team this year at limiting shots against.

2)Over the last 3 years, including this season we are tied for 14th in most PP goals. Which is not great, but not bad either.

Ya, he's good at it, but if Hynes makes note of it? Dudes get pissed.

Well maybe us "Dudes" get pissed 'cause his focus is on his puck-handling and not his main job which is to stop the goddamn f'n puck! :whatever::whatever::whatever:

What he should've talked about FIRST and foremost was the good job he did at making saves....THEN he can go slobber all over his "puck-handling".

He did say he was good at stopping the puck first. You might want to actually watch the video before going off on it.

that’s exactly what hynes did. he said domingue did 2 things really well: 1) stopping the puck and 2) moving the puck.

besides that, how people talk (or what they talk about) isn’t up to you. whether it’s hynes or fraser or hall etc.

I don't recall but you may be right. I do know Tennyson was way too late in covering his man cutting across who had the tip, that much I do remember but Domingue could've played it earlier. Regardless, Domingue made some nice plays handling the puck and look confident in doing so.

Wasn't he (Rollie) brought in because of his relationship with Cory? Does this mean we can get rid of him too now that Cory's gone?

Send him to Bing!!!

Wait. On second thought, we don't want him corrupting our other goalie prospects.
