I'll echo Bleed in that if Shero is fired after this season, I won't shed a tear for him. His coaching decisions are baffling. The Hayden and Wood obsessions are nauseating.

And I'll agree with Eddy that he shouldn't be fired after this year. His next coaching hire has to be a home run. If we get another AHL/college hail mary, I and most of this board are going to melt down.

If they get off to this bad of a start next year, Shero has to be fired. Fans need to be intolerant of the losing. But I'm sure most of the lower bowl money burners will continue to sit on their hands.

Shero has done more good than bad, but the last six months or so have not been great. I don't mind him making the moves he made this summer, since it certainly seems now like he knew it was likely their last shot with Hall. Sometimes things just don't work out as planned. But failing to address the goaltending, hanging on to Hynes too long, and the Hall trade is a run of bad gambles and poor decisions. Wouldn't mind if it sunk him and the keys were turned over to someone else, but realistically I think they'll have to be terrible for a few more seasons before he gets ousted.

Whole staff needs to go by next season... we need a major upgrade in our d....and most importantly real goalies (get rid of domingue, blackwood .. and cory)

Owners should hold shero accountable for this 5 yr rebuild which led us backwards.

What makes you think ownership is in a hurry to be competitive?

Whether or not it's "fair" to fire Shero is ultimately irrelevant. If it makes sense to fire him instead of having him enter an offseason trying to save his job then he's got to go. I think if the rest of the year proceeds like this where young guys are seemingly regressing and Hughes is ultimately ineffective/frustrated it will be time to let him go and get a fresh face in charge to hire his coach.

Don't you think Chico is more of a homer than Dano?
Definitely not.

He loves to openly root for the Devils on air, but he's not as much of a company yes man on air as Dano.

And while I'm not completely sure if this is the case with Dano (someone that's interacted with him in recent years can probably answer this better than I can), Chico can be very critical and very blunt if you ever grab him to the side and talk to him. Dano might be a little more honest, but I also feel like he'd probably hold back a bit and watch what he said. Chico wouldn't watch what he said. Chico would come right out and say ''This guy isn't good'' or ''That contract is bad'' or ''I'm not sure what that deal was all about'' or ''I don't know why he gets so much ice time''. Of course this is all off-air with Chico, but he's not as much of a yes man regarding the team on-air either.

I'm really getting tired of hearing the other team's broadcasters being all politically correct and saying ''They're a hard working team'' or ''Don't take them and their record lightly''.

One of the CBJ guys said ''They played hard tonight'' in regard to the way we played. I mean, that's more of an insult if they think we played hard tonight. I mean, if they really think we played hard tonight than they must really believe we're the worst team in the NHL on paper by and far.

On paper sure this team looks better but after 5 years with Shero the on ice product is just as bad as what Lou left us. It’s pretty disappointing at this point the team should have made a little bit of movement in the right direction.

I do not care who is a Homer.

I am just sick and tired of Mr. Oh-Boy nodding his head everytime Cangy opens his mouth.

With Matt and Chico, we get some semblance of actual hockey talk.

I thought the Devils were the entertainment.

What's so "entertaining" about THIS team right now?

Tell me! :pullhair::pullhair::pullhair::pullhair:

I do think if we have another good goalie here and started the season that way, things could have been different.

But it's still troubling just how bad our offense is, even when Hall was in the lineup and still here. Offense was something Shero talked up as he walked into the door, yet we haven't even improved in that category.

Last year's team (before Hall went down) was averaging more goals than this year's team by quite a bit. I'm pretty sure last year's team was 15th or somewhere around there in scoring at the time Hall went down, which was right around this day last year.

The last good stretch of play was the beginning of last year. It has been a miserable 400 days of Devils hockey.

We should have been past this after last offseason and the spending - albeit on trade acquisitions. Ownership may not care as much as we'd like as far as the day-to-day operations and put too much stock in 'the process' but they also don't cheap out and actively prevent winning either.

Definitely not.

Chico also has ties to the Islanders and Flyers, so he's not going to be as much of a homer as Mr. Devil Dano who's been solely associated with the team for three and a half decades.
