I'm pretty sure the fact he's getting more money and FIVE YEARS is the reason he signed with NJ and not Calgary.

I doubt he was getting more money from NJ. He was making 6 per year previously. But I do agree the 5 years was what mainly caught his eye; probably a year more term than some others offered.

I'm sure he also felt he'd be a good fit on this NJ team.

Cam wanted to be here for the past couple years.

Lou probably could of given him a yr less and he would of came but given the teams situation really couldnt of taken that chance.

Seems like Cammalleri has a hard time staying healthy. A lot of his seasons consist of 60-70 games played. Hopefully he can stay healthy, but history shows he may play around 65 games.

Very few players play all 82 games, and I think the 'injury prone' thing is a little overrated. They're all playing a physically demanding sport, so every player is at a high percentage for experiencing an injury. Most injuries are freak accidents

Edit: With special caution shown towards those with concussion issues (I'm looking at you Clowe), I think the tendency for an individual to experience more injuries is over played. I'd still sign/trade for Crosby even with his 'injury prone' status

Just dawned on me that Crosby should now be considered injury prone.

Who isn't though? You are right. It's a tough sport and guys miss time a lot. Only gets concerning in certain cases (Clowe)

Devils Medical Staff does not equal METS Medical Staff.

I have a bit more confidence in them.

It kind of used to, at least in the days of the Paul Martin arm fiasco. They have gotten a bit better since then though in terms of not misdiagnosing guys or having guys reinjure previous injuries...well except with Gionta last year. We rushed him back and then he got hurt for a few weeks the next time.

And the Mets' medical staff has been cleared out since the days of Ryan Church and nonsense like that too, they're no different than anyone else atm.

I noticed that the Devils mobile site & his player page now lists Cammi's number as 13. Did the articulate Mike, a leader of men and a fan of statistics, give an impassioned plea for Lou to end the superstitious hate of the number 13 in the name of reason?

I think he must have and Lou is issuing the first #13 Devils jersey. Or do you think it's just a website mistake?
Things in favor that it's official:
- IIRC, no number was listed when he was first put on the website. He and Havlet were both completely number free, but now only Havlet is.

-The Devils list his Twitter handle, which contains the number 13.

- Cammi was the first Hab to wear a number 13 jersey (according to a guy on ******).

Place yer bets.
(Sorry if this is discussed elsewhere and I missed it.)

65 games mike should be more then enough for jersey's team to rebound and make the playoffs .

Ugh, looking back, I really wish this was a 3yr/$6MM deal, but I don't know if Cammalleri would have taken it.

However, in three years time our forward corps should look a lot younger, so that would soften the blow of an aging and injury-prone Cammalleri.

I doubt he would sign it. Maybe 3 year - 7 million.

I think perhaps that's what Lou is thinking, too.

I bet he would've preferred a lower number/years but he would definitely not have signed if Lou didn't go overboard here. It is what it is.

Good to have a genuine all around shooter back in the team. I hope Zajac and Jagr can give him some good looks.

These things never work on paper as they seem they should though, so it will probably be that Camm plays better with Elias.
That gives Henrique a chance to play with Zajac, Jagr. Has he ever played LW up there?

Henrique has played 109 even strength minutes with Jagr and has played with Zajac for 69 minutes of even strength time. So he hasn't played with them all that much.

So not that much. It would be interesting to see him at LW with those two but I think the Devils see him as a center going forward.

I hope they do see him as a center. As after Zajac, Elias we basically don't have any centers. Unless they are prepared to get zero offense from the bottom 6.

Also, doesn't MacArthur's contract make Cammalleri's look pretty solid?

I think Macarthur's contract makes Camm's look bad. Mac is more productive and younger and making less.
