I think too much is made in the media about Corys anxiety issues. I think much of it stemmed from his lack of a starting gig, and his nerves about his future and getting a starting gig played into it a good amount.

The team is trending in the right direction, big time. Extremely bright blue-line prospect, very solid goaltending and Lou is committed to helping the scoring woes. If the team performs like they can we're in for some good years ahead.

yeah and I think it helps that his 'big contract' won't kick in until next year. less pressure, and one more year removed from Marty

edit- one year removed from Marty the player, that is.

Zach jumped ship because

A) he got $100 million dollars and
B) he went home to play with his butt buddy

(C) Minnesota's farm system was loaded to the gills. These guys aren't dumb. If you want a shot at the cup, you are cognizant of the personnel. Another example is Spezza.

Honestly, I am ecstatic with the signing - but with a touch of reality.

I don't think Schneider is really all his SV% cracks him up to be, but he will be a solid goalie for a full regular season, and we might see some big game jitters if we make the playoffs. I think if he gets a good goalie coach (come on, Terreri) works HARD on his skating, and improves his mental aspects of the game, rebound control, puck handling and communication with the Dmen, we'll see a very good goaltender who steals some games, costs us some others, but overall stays in the top third of goalies in the league.

I think the defense in front of him is going to shine, and a few of our prospects will surprise, and we'll get some decent talent through trades of our stock of dmen.

I think we'll be a bubble playoff team over his tenure and maybe have a mini run - but it isn't going to be because of him or in spite of him - but more because Larsson, Gelinas, Severson, Santini and Merrill take the next step... OR not.

The Schneider contract is great from the devils perspective. He's solid but far from a savior, given the organizational holes. I'm just questioning why he would blindly sign on for 7 years when there isn't any cavalry coming over the hill to help him. At minimum, you need 3 to 4 high level players in their prime and under 30 to bring home the cup in this league (see hawks and kings most notably). The devils haven't even drafted such type of impact players yet unless Larsson pulls a 180. Then you have Lou who still manages the team like it's 1992.

Tundra is just upset because he would of preferred that Cory leave. Then he could tell us how much better of a decision maker he is than Lou. He could than come on here daily and remind us of how Lou could of drafted the Russian in Dallas instead. His biggest chip he plays was taken away from him.

Now he's onto the some babel about Parise.

Literally nobody is going to say "I came here because I got paid". It's not going to happen. Even though that's the reason why a ton of guys sign where they do.

Anyways, we're going on a massive tangent here.

Haha how about Volchenkov signing here and talking about the airport.

When the media asked Clowe why he choose Jersey, he said (paraphrasing) the years and "commitment" they showed him. That's as close as you are going to get.

And you don't think his comment on the "farm system" in Minny wasn't a "garbage cliche"?

C'mon, Stabone. You can't be THAT naive.

If Lou paid him that insane amount PLUS had Suter agreeing to come here, you would be hearing Pari$e say something about the Devils "farm system" also.

To your last point, Suter stated he had no interest in playing in the East. More cover to the nonesense. This is as close to a LeBron/Bosh moment as you are going to have in sports.

No. I'm shocked he signed for 7 years with a NTC. It was the term that baffled me. I thought he would have signed for maybe 4 years for more money and then watched how things would transpire going forward.

You are shocked THAT he did sign, terms be damned.

Funny, your tune was different a month ago.

Let's see Lou has been "scouting" him since HS, Hockey East and Vancouver you want him to prove what exactly.

Cory misread the contract, he thought he was committing to the Islanders.

So you are saying you are happy he signed in an almost disappointed sort of way.

Yes. I'm happy he signed but he can't score goals. Just ask Quick. Where would he be without Kopitar and Doughty?

The Kings scored even less goals than we did last year. Or it was close I think. They won the Jennings and gave up the least amount of goals in the league.

Bobby Holik did. Those weren't his exact words but I remember watching an interview where a reporter asked him why he chose NYR and he said something to along the lines of "Well the money helped obviously but..."

Oh he is just miserable. Its got to the point where i think he should go find another team to root for, because even with good news he has a problem with it. Clearly not a lot of faith or joy in the team.

I am happy about this as the rest of us seem to be. Its great to know we can build from the back out like we are known for.
