Cory's fault. Seriously.

Yeah we got a loser point but the emphasis is more on the "LOSER" part than the "point" one.

Oh and please Hugh. Please continue to blare out whatever "wholesome family-oriented" garbage goal-song that nobody has ever heard of after a Devils goal. At this rate, nobody even gives a crap because the team sucks ass.

Yeah they did seem to play better than before but the end result is the same : Play just well enough to get *ONLY* one stinking point. That plan will NEVER work if the Playoffs are our goal.

Hell....that plan will never work if a .500 record is our goal!! :banghead:

Anybody want to chime in?

'Cause I can keep on going for days..... :sarcasm:

Team played well enough to win. This is the type of game that sucks to lose because we need wins. Cory HAS to stop that 2nd goal.

We're actually on pace for 50 points, but only 8 wins.

Schneider needs to be better than tonight though, both goals were his fault.

Wrong. This is just wrong. What about the system isn't working? The part where the Devils totally controlled the game and gave up two of the worst goals we've seen since the last time Brodeur started a game? The part where the team was relentless on the forecheck and the neutral zone and their own zone?

You guys are crazy. I'm glad Deboer understands the process and sees the progress this team (which has like 47 new players on it, remember) is making. It's gonna get even better if Salvador can come back and push Volchenkov out of the lineup for awhile.
How isn't the system working? Go back and look at our record since last February. How many games have we seen that looked indentical to this one? Too many to count.

It's not translating to wins. We're winning in possession but we aren't scoring. How many god damn wins do we have since last February? And we've played countless games like this. We're not getting results, and I could care less about winning possession or any other advanced stat. I care about wins, and we aren't getting them.

It just doesn't get results with who we have. That isn't on Deboer though. He doesn't build the team. You can't blame him for his system not working with who we have on the team, but it will probably require a coaching change.

Eggers provided this for me, apparently :

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice 25s
Schneider: “No disrespect to Vancouver, but I thought we outplayed them the entire game and it should have been a 2-0 win...

At least Schneider sees what's going on.

I love his brash confidence but this game was evenly matched, IMO. And he blew it.

Anyone else sitting in a dark room in the fetal position of the fact that the volchenkov-zidlicky pairing was miles better than Greene-fayne tonight?

This was the best game they've played this season. For the first time all year I'll be looking forward to the next game. If Schneider is on his game and maybe Henrique actually shows up that's an easy win against a good team. Larsson and Gelinas looked great. Fayne's confidence and play rose as the game went on and Zajac was firing the puck at every opportunity. Lokti looks really good playing with Elias and the fourth line, while playing too much, played quite well. Maybe just get Olesz out and Josefson in, then jettison Volch when Sal comes back and the team might actually be decent.

Not to sound too overly optimistic, but there is reason to be pleased with what we saw tonight despite the loss. Hopefully this game opened Petes eyes a bit too. The D was the biggest reason they looked so good. Gelinas hasn't been brainwashed by the coaching staff yet and Larsson seemed to feed off of that and get a bit of his swag back.

I thought it was more even too, but we still played really well. I don't buy the system not working either. We were losing 2-1, 1-0 last year. We looked worlds better with the current lineup then last year, Luongo was just on and our goalie wasn't.

Wow Jagr was right, Gelinas really was the best player on the ice:

http://www.extraskater.com/game/2013-10-24-canucks-devils

Devils had 84.6% of all unblocked attempts when he was on the ice... That's insane. Started a lot in the offensive zone but mostly played against the 2nd game and came out RIDICULOUSLY ahead.

I'm sure he had a lot of jump for his first "real" game, but hopefully this is a sign that he's ready to make a statement and bump someone out of the lineup. Devils have had too many passengers on D until tonight.

Exactly, I get being annoyed because we lost again and we need wins, but this wasn't a "bad" lose.

the game was not evenly matched

the canucks were rope a doping the whole game

schneider let some soft ones in, and the devils can never get that one extra goal to seal the deal.

at least schneider is 100% honest and doesn't ******** at all about his play.

A few impressions:

Offense

Zajac is invisible. He's becoming a serious concern. He has 30 points in his last 74 games, for reference purposes. That point total is all well and good when he's playing Selke quality defense. But the last two weeks his effort has been piss poor. Piss poor. His decision making has been awful. He can't catch a pass on his stick. This is all concerning, not only because of his contract, but because he plays a ton of important minutes. He plays the PP, PK, and a ton of minutes ES. Oh and apparently he's our lead guy in the SO too. Maybe it's time that he gets away from the PP and focuses on his defense. And when that comes we start expanding his role.

I thought the PE AL JJ line was fantastic. Buzzing all night. That line should stick together for the entire year.

Henrique was invisible as well. His draft projection was third line forward. I thought Lou gave him that deal far too soon and paid far too much for him. I want him to prove me wrong.

Defense

Gelinas. That is all.

Coach

Needs to ****ing go. CBGB played nearly as many minutes as Brunner and Lokti (within like 30 seconds). They also played in very important situations. He needs to cut that **** out and play his best players in important situations. That entire line was a -2. They never seem to do enough to get benched.

General

The arena was pretty empty. I tried to figure out how many people were really there but it was awfully disappointing. I know, I know - team sucks, Thursday, Canucks - but the opening night and Rangers game were equally disappointing too. It's clear that we didn't remove seats. Fans just aren't coming out like they used too.

Despite that it was a fun crowd. Fans that were there made some noise. I'm proud they were knowledgeable enough to boo PDB.

What's our shooting percentage as a team since February? 5 or 6 percent? We constantly get 30 shots and all we can get is 2 goals.

My God Andy Greene sucked balls in this game and has been positively awful all season. If anyone should be benched when Sal comes back it is him.

Part of the reason Larsson has looked so bad is because of who he had been paired with.

And Fayne? Holy mackerel! Anyone who complains that he's being benched should get their eyes checked. Maybe he should go back to 34.

Volchenkov has been brilliant for 3 straight games now. He's turned back the clock quite effectively. Zidlicky has been amazing offensively.

Greene has been dog **** some games and good in other games. Fayne was alright tonight I thought. Greene played worse.

Jeeze I could hug you two right now.

I noticed the same thing with Larsson. By the third period he seemed way more aggressive and had some of that selfishness you wanna see out of a talented kid. You can tell they really complimented each other.

If Pete will leave the players that deserve to be in the lineup in, I'd actually be optimistic that the team could scratch and claw their way to the playoffs and possibly even win a round in this weak division based on what I saw tonight. Still need scoring to improve from somewhere first. Henrique especially needs to jump start offense. Wish he could have a few games with josefson and brunner

I think it's easy to forget that this was a quality game against a good team. Still frustrating to see this team drop games they should win.
