Totally forgot about this. And this:

Good stuff. They do have good chemistry. Always nice seeing teammates talking about each other like that.

I liked the vid where he says that he and him play basically the same type of game.

The 2nd vid isn't so surprising.

He was willing to drop the mitts against Marchand in the past.

All the main board whining is a f***ing joke. Jesper Bratt has been my favorite player in the league since he made the team out of camp in 2017.

I know what age curves say about players improving beyond the age of 22 or 23. Throw all that out. Jesper Bratt was different from the moment he stepped on the ice as a 19 year old rookie straight out of the Allsvenskan. He was a brilliant creator of offense. He was dangerous every time he touched the puck. Then he hit a wall and stopped producing, and that’s been the story of his career ever since. Long stretches where he legitimately looks like one of the best players in the league followed by long stretches where he loses his consistency and starts pressing.

But you know what? Every year, it’s gotten a little better, a little closer to his extraordinary potential. Yes, he had a bad slump this year, but his highs were absolutely stellar. He has gotten to the point where when he is on he’s almost unstoppable. I do believe that, whether it’s this season, next season or when he’s 27, he will get there. Maybe he doesn’t completely eliminate the slumps, but he mitigates them to the point where they’re no longer a serious concern.

I think all the hand wringing is going to from annoying to hilarious in a short amount of time.

I mean he also literally doesn't have to improve at all. Bratt staying exactly the player he's been the past 2 years is easily worth his deal and it'll look fantastic when the cap jumps. I also couldn't care less about what fans of other teams think. They're irrelevant. It already is hilarious rather than annoying.

"All the main board whining" is just one poster who stays away from this forum because he knows he's alone on an island with his nonsensical takes.

Don't worry about it.

Everyone who matters here knows Bratt is the real deal.

And now that he signed the contract finally, those who took a dump on him, are now starting to shower him with Praise instead.

Had to come here to talk about the Bratt contract, no chance I'm diving in on the main board, there are a few too many alleged Devil fans there.
I love this contract, didn't think they'd be able to get him for that low of a number for that many years. Was definitely thinking he wasn't interested in an 8 year deal.
Hopefully Bratt can figure out and find success in the playoffs, I'm not overly concerned about it yet though.
Now get Meier done and we can all breathe a little easier for the rest of the summer.

That’s the kicker. If he’s the same player it’s fine. If he has a bit more progression so much the better.

Genuinely don’t see that big of a slump for Bratt this year as it’s being discussed on the main board. Maybe I’m just not seeing it.

70 points in the team’s last 80 games.
56 points in the team’s last 70 games.
48 points in the team’s last 60 games.
42 points in the team’s last 50 games.
31 points in the team’s last 40 games.
21 points in the team’s last 30 games.
15 points in the team’s last 20 games.
8 points in the team’s last 10 games.

Why would people assume Bratt falls off after the last two years with the same point total, classic he got his money syndrome (or ‘living up to the contract’)? Nothing else even would make sense, not like he’s old or injury prone and the NHL isn’t dramatically changing its rules.

Even if Bratt were exactly the same player, guys like Jack, Mercer, Luke elevating their games may bump Bratt’s numbers by default even.

Regardless, the guy is 24. It’d be pretty unlikely we’ve seen his best yet.

the bolded part is obviously the slump, yes? A 70ish point player is gonna have stretches in a season where they play well above a 70pt pace and stretches where they’re well below. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a slump.

Am i wrong in assuming that the expectations for Bratt are that he’s something more than a 65-75 point winger? I kinda thought it was a given that he should be at 80-90 points throughout his prime but maybe i’m reading the room wrong. Hopefully the Devils figure out their power play next year and everyone has an offensive explosion and this discussion is moot.

Consistent 70-80 with elite playdriving and peaking at like 85-90+ seems likely to me.

This idea that players are completely consistent over every calendar month is just weird.

This all comes back to the ''Well (insert goalie) was a .920% goalie the last 16 games of the season! He's still a .920% goalie! He was only an .852% goalie the first 9 games before he was badly injured! .920% is what he still is!'' or the ''Well he was only a .901% in the month of March, so he's not really worthy of a Vezina this year because he wasn't a .920% every month! A true .920% goalie is a .920% goalie every month!''.

I have seen people do this with Bratt and say stuff like ''Well he only had 9 points in 17 games at one point this year''. Never mind that he might have had 25 points in 15 or 17 games at some point.

Bratt was also seemingly becoming discarded trash by a few people here, more than likely because people were paranoid he wouldn't sign because of what happened the last two times his contract was up, but we also know there is a very small sect here that do not like Bratt to begin with......

Using Bratt's ups and downs to buttress your arguments that Blackwood is really a .920 goalie is really pushing it.
