I dunno, I feel his #'s were surprisingly low, but he also hasn't struck me as a savy playmaker either. Hopefully we see more going fwd.

He’s had a number of times guys don’t score off good passes from him. Just like Simmonds recently this game. Bratt last game. I’m guessing that most primary assists aren’t things of beauty. Just get the puck to the guy in shooting position.

Just remember, when you watch Ovechkin, you are watching the greatest goal scorer in history.

If he played in the 80's, he'd easily have 1000 goals by now

Imagine being a goalie back then with the one timers he unleashes not to mention his size and the dirty goals in tight.

Well....

Devils beat the Caps 5-1 last time.

Caps return the favor with 5-2 tonight.

(we still got the edge thanks to Coleman's shorty. lol )

Speaking of Coleman.....or GOALman....

Can we sign this guy to long contract?

He has been MONEY on the PK.

The problem is he needs almost no space to get the shot off and still be deadly accurate and extremely powerful. You basically need one guy to glue to him to prevent him from getting a shot off.
Well...why not do that then? It just seems nonsensical that he is given the room to get the shot off when he scores on like 50% of those one timers. Force someone else to try to score.

That was actually better than I was expecting after the first 5 minutes. Held Ovi under 4 goals and didn't just break the shutout, but managed 2 goals. Not bad.

So much for all of that talk about what a great job Nas was doing over the weekend. Not blaming him, but he is very much a care taker

To be honest I'm feeling pretty neutral about this. It's fun to win games, but if you're not making the playoffs, this is not a year to be drafting outside top8.

There's plenty to be happy and excited about the team and I trust the management will make the right moves on deadline. If the value is right I'm fine with moving all of Simmonds, Zacha, Wood, Hayden, Rooney, McLeod, Butcher, Vatanen, Severson, Carrick, Mueller..

Nas shouldn't be judged solely on the last 2 games, much like he shouldn't be judged on the previous 10.

We have 30 something games left, it will be on the whole kit and kaboodle. The team will have to be pretty impressive down the stretch for him to come back.

Well he’s got them competing at least. This would have been an 8-1 drubbing under Hynes. It’s good to see them putting up a fight, as meager as it is.
