The Good:
Zacha
Bratt
Hischier
Smith
Severson
Hughes
Wood

The Bad:
The PK
Murray
Vatanen

The Ugly:
The first goal Blackwood gave up

The ugly there was Kulikov’s terrible “pass” to Subban. Backhanders are notoriously tricky for goalies as they can’t see the release, especially a quick turnover like that. I wouldn’t single out Blackwood on that.

The PK absolutely still belongs in the ugly section too.

Does anyone think that Makar should have an asterisk next to his name because of the level of talent surrounding him?

I mean....Sevs 5v5 stats playing with not the level of talent that Cale and Girard have is more impressive.

In other words, I think Damon is the true #1 on this list.

I mean, have you watch Makar play? Absolutely not. He’s an absolute stud.

First off, please don't assume what I have or have not done (you don't know me), okay? Thanks.

But I do admit I have not seen Makar play as I only focus on MacKinnon and the other Forwards and not their D-men.

That said, it's much easier to be successful (and have great 5v5 numbers) on a team with that much firepower.

Wow, a real good game by Zacha based on the highlights and this board. Bratt with some real good moves on that first goal, just beautiful. His edgework is just insane. And those moves by Zacha before the pass to Bratt. He wouldn't have dared to even try that under Hynes watchful eyes. Also a nice keep in on the second goal, I think he was going for the shot before he realized he was being tied up from behind. And a snipe for the OT winner, why not.

Keep on scoring Zacha, time to show everyone what you got. And f*** you if you start ghost ryding at any point this season.

e: Oh and good on Nico for getting on the board. Credit to Wood for scoring on the powerkill.

It was a figure of speech.

I wonder if it’s enough for a Calder? Speaking of Calder, it shouldn’t automatically go to points leader, there should be a couple goalies and a defenseman (Ty Smith) in the top 5 this year. If not, it needs to be split like the NFL. Defensive Rookie of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year. While we are on subject it’s stupid to hand the Norris to the best Offensive Defenseman. Dumb

Absolutely. I've always advocated for the Stevens Trophy (or Langway...Serge Savard) that should go to the best defensive defenseman in the NHL every season

That or the Norris can go to the best defensive defenseman and give the Coffey Cup to the best offensive D

Sal breaking down plays on the big board with a hockey stick was the unsung hero of the night.

Yes it was and while Subban got the big blame for that turnover behind the net Sal put a lot of the blame on Kulikov for not giving him the pass when he was ready for it and giving a bounce pass with his back to the play instead.

I'm all for Sal taking over the PK as assistant or special assignment coach. He's great at analyzing and recognizing critical points in decision making.

I'd love to hear Sal call a game with Cangy, I love Dano but he's not much of a X's and O's guy.

Man, "is Pavel Zacha actually good?" was never a question I thought we'd have to consider this season.

Pretty big step forward for him through 15 games even if you factor in that he's on a bit of a shooting percentage bender with the goals. Hope he keeps it up.

Yes it is. I pick those out of the candy bowl at Halloween. One of the only sweets I like aside from Reece's cups and Twix.

Okay. Here's a better question :

Will MartyOwns ever respond to any of my posts?

(I'm beginning to think he has me on Ignore or something but that can't be right....lol)

Didn't he call a game or two last year? I recall him doing a really good job
One of the key talents you need to be in the booth is talk on the run because of the fast pace action and I bet Sal smoother at this than Dano. In fact I believe Dano is better in the studio than the booth as I've seen him do both.

Studio you can get thoughts and opinions together in a controlled climate, Dano seems better served there. Just my two cents.

I feel like that is changing. I felt they had a pretty good game tonight. Sometimes its just about playing more and more the player if its not natural.

I think they are coming around together.

This is true. Sometimes chemistry comes not instantly, but over time.
