Thinking it over in the cool light of dawn, we got some fortunate bounces last night that enabled the win. Both Wood’s tying goal in the 3d and Hischier’s go ahead were pure broken play good fortune bounces.

Plus the good fortune of Ullmark going down.

But that’s hockey. I don’t know another sport where random bounce stuff enters more into play. It was about time we had our turn.

Yep. Look how their first goal was scored. That’s usually a routine play exiting the zone.

Good for Zacha though. Not ready to make any claims either way but I’m glad the kid is using his shot. There was another setup to him in the slot with the puck bouncing and he just missed it knuckling over the cross bar. Let him shoot all day long and let’s count the numbers at the end of the season.

There are like six people in thr GDT claiming to be Zacha's father

Kind of embarrassing to be honest...

There were also a few losses where the Devils had multiple pucks ringing off the bar and questionable penalty calls against. They were due for some good bounces.

So this page while infuriating at times is often a place where people who actually know what they're talking about (for the most part) congregate. Facebook on the other hand is full of absolute morons. There are people online who think Severson still sucks and think he's bad. It's mind blowing.

I quoted you saying "Numbers wise they got caved because Tennyson. I wouldn’t say he looked “amazing” though. I thought Smith looked fine to start the year. Outside of the first Philly game where he was downright awful. He and Severson dominate every game now". I said "fine" not "struggled"

Jack was better with Bratt than Palms but the Nico line isn't getting broken up. Hughes-Palms have also been better with Johnsson as the 3rd piece as opposed to Sharangovich. Outside of swapping Goose and Palms which I don't see happening there's really no other option than keeping Hughes and Palms together
Goose will eventually be given a shot on the left side on that line.

I'm not saying it's a great idea, but with Zajac being cooked as well as the 1st and 4th playing well some parts are going to get moved.

Baseball. I could argue basketball if I really felt like being contrarian. Football has a fair amount of ridiculous tipped passes that end up with odd results as well.

Sports be sports.

i was interrupted last night and FINALLY got to see the 3rd and OT. i'm still refusing to get my hopes up on zacha, but jesus christ. keep scoring goals and i'll never criticize him again. what a win against a team missing arguably their best player and a backup goalie for the 2nd and 3rd. that was a must have and we got it.

the PK is still pissing me off- you can't leave someone all alone in front of the net and expect to kill a penalty. this is basic, basic shit. you don't need a string of practices to understand the concept.

Does it though? How many of the leading scorers in juniors fail to do anything at the next level? Sure a lot of them hit but way more don't.

That's because they go away. Guys who crush juniors at 17/18 and then never play in junior again because they're in the NHL leave room for their weaker age cohort to lead the league in scoring when they're 19/20/21, and these players are worse in general. Guys who do really well in junior and then never play there again after being drafted (in their first draft year) turn into average to great NHLers - it's a short list of players who didn't do so.

The basis of this is the awful Couturier comparison. You've got 1 NHL player that dominated juniors but took a few years before exploding offensively, showing the offensive potential that was always there. Then another that couldn't really dominate juniors near the same level and because he had a slow start (and worse when you consider he didn't have to fight Giroux and Schenn for ice time) it's a good comparison? Despite never displaying near the same offensive potenial as a prospect?

Does anyone think that Makar should have an asterisk next to his name because of the level of talent surrounding him?

I mean....Sevs 5v5 stats playing with not the level of talent that Cale and Girard have is more impressive.

In other words, I think Damon is the true #1 on this list.

Would anyone here be upset about him attempting to run the pk?

I'd bet he thinks about it.

I wonder if it’s enough for a Calder? Speaking of Calder, it shouldn’t automatically go to points leader, there should be a couple goalies and a defenseman (Ty Smith) in the top 5 this year. If not, it needs to be split like the NFL. Defensive Rookie of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year. While we are on subject it’s stupid to hand the Norris to the best Offensive Defenseman. Dumb

I don't reply to you often but I have to say that Lindy seems to be a bit stubborn in changing his ways in this regard.

We've been pretty good possession-wise this season. I honestly don't know if it's sorely on the new system or if the guys have taken a leap. Anyway, it's pretty good to see Severson doing well and Smith backing his points up with good CF% just need to get more shots on the net now.
