Yeah, that much seems obvious. It looks like they're trying to save some face, since it's pretty clear there was an averse reaction to the trade on the Vancouver side of things.
It's unfortunate that they were backed into such a corner. I can only assume he lost a few friends from the returns he was asking for Luongo?
Now that the dust has settled, how do you guys feel about the trade?
And, a little late, but it's really awesome of all the Vancouver fans to come over with a lot of great info on Schneider. It's been nice reading through all of it.
TLDR; I was fine keeping Lu from day one but not because I thought Cory was bad, happy with the trade.
I always wanted to Keep Luongo but I had come to terms with it seeming like Cory would be our goalie going forward, I felt because on the Luongo contract that we'd get better value and that the difference between the two wasn't anywhere near enough to warrant keeping Schneider and getting nothing for Roberto.
There is a good chance I'm wrong, its not that I think Luongo is the better goalie so much as I want him to succeed as a Canuck and shove it in the haters faces, I also felt we as a fan base didn't deserve either one tbh.
On the trade itself? Though I obviously would have one a player with the pick prospect or roster, I'm fine with the value and the day overall, as I've already said in this thread, I most happy because none of the fan bases that were ******** on our goalies over the last year got either one of them.
There is about to be only one goalie in the world who has learned from Luongo and Brodeur, grooming doesn't get any better than that. He doesn't need anymore polish mind you and is ready but getting a few pointers from arguably the greatest goalie to ever play in the NHL can't be bad.
Kind of winded, sorry.
*edit* Really excited for #35 though, I'm happy the sage is over and am pumped to see what he can do starting a full season.
