One player I think could be a very underrated acquisition: Brandon Tanev.

Would be a great bottom 6 player. Add Tanev, and trade for/sign a top 6 winger, such as Gustav Nyquist.

Wood - Zajac - Coleman
Boqvist - Zacha - Tanev

Butcher - Subban
Smith - Vatanen
Greene - Severson

Oh it's going to be a blast. I don't even think it'll have to be a regular season game. If he makes a blind pass or gets burnt outside people will say that's why he was available, his skating is shot, etc. Its going to be fantastic.

If it was like a 2 year deal I wouldn't mind him, but he's 32 (or will be by the time the season starts) and likely asking for more term than I'd want to give him. Plus, he's more of a playmaker than a finisher, and I think we could use a goal scorer more right now.

Zuccarello is awesome. I just don’t think he’s the piece we need. The team needs a little size IMO. I’d be much more interested in Anders Lee.

The point isn't that Zucc is not a good player.

The point is that he's a former RAGS player.

Each time I even read his name, Sam Rosen's stupid voice comes to mind.

I don't know who that would even be though. Brodin isn't very good. Brodie is a UFA next summer. Fowler would cost more and I'm not even sure Anaheim wants to move him anyway. I don't see Carolina moving Slavin anytime soon. Would Murray be available in Columbus? For that matter, how good is he actually? I don't watch many of their games except when they play us. I don't see Edmonton moving Nurse. Maatta isn't very good. Who else is out there?

No clue, I dunno who’s even out there on the LD I’m guessing it would have to be someone the public doesn’t realize is available.

July 1st has ruined franchises. Every year some terrible mistakes are made and it usually doesn't take very long for regret to set in. I'm all for signing free agents, but overpaying mediocre middle 6/bottom 4 guys is a death sentence.

I remember Brian Rolston, I remember bribing San Jose to take Malakhov off our hands with a 1st round pick.

I'd still really like for Ray to find a way to take advantage of the cap situation in Vegas. Alex Tuch would be my target. 23 years old, scored 52 points last year, has a cap hit of $4.75M for 7 years. Not sure what we'd have to give up to get him, but I'd love it. Probably a pipe dream though.

Sadly, there is just no way Vegas would trade their most valuable contract when they are in a cap bind. Pacioretty or Gusev are the ones likely to be moved in my opinion. Most likely Gusev.

Agreed. Gusev was really good in the KHL, but who knows how that'll translate? Besides, he seems like more of a playmaker than a finisher, which is something we'd really benefit from acquiring.

They wouldnt have signed him if they didnt give that 3rd year. He wasnt bad his first couple years and provided a ton of leadership for that young group. People look at numbers (stats, money) but in some cases there are other things at play. Im pretty sure if you go back, knowing what they do know they would still sign him.

Does Johnny Oduya count? He was kind of a NHL free agent. Mike Mottau is in the same “kind of a NHLer when we signed him” category. Maybe Johan Hedberg?
