I don't understand how Shero hasn't addressed the state of the team? I mean, I think at this point he should be saying something?

Maybe he did say something.

What is outragous is that they have given up 29 goals in 6 games...Far and away the worst in the league...If you want to blame Severson for that, that's your prerogative. But the idea seems absurd to me.

For some reason, Severson keeps on leading the team in GA/60.... year after year. I mean that's the point he's trying to make.

Yeah. I think it's safe to say that the problem has gone way beyond just Severson.

You have to look at the Coaching staff.

And Severson being the worst at it on our team is certainly not helping. Absolutely no one is defending the coaching staff here, but enough with that Severson bullshit. He's been in the league for 6 years and hasn't improved the slightest defensively.

Everyone jumps on Mueller throat because he can't handle a puck while he had the best GA/60 on our team last year by a good margin. While the more elegant player (Severson) gets excuses after excuses. One of the most popular one is it's always his partner's fault, which is totally bogus when you start looking at the numbers.

People, including our coaching staff, are jumping on "Welcome to the new NHL" train and totally dismiss that you actually need to actually defend at times.

Sakic seems like a very conservative and patient GM. I'd be surprised if he even wanted to trade for Hall right now at fair market value. I'd expect Sakic to be open to a trade for real value close to the TDL only if he perceives the team to be a true cup contender. I also expect he'd want to go heavy on futures to avoid moving contributing players off the roster. Just my thought.

That's why just about everyone got into it 'cause it was such an ABSURD take.

Subban posting a picture of the Team celebrating CANADIAN THANKSGIVING (did you miss that part, Mr. Irony?) is such "bad PR"(according to you and @Taylor Hall )....oh we are soooooo outraged.

I don't buy that. When he's in his partner's ass while his partner is battling in the corner, it's not "beyond his control", unless he doesn't have a functioning brain.

Severson's possession stats are terrible too.

Just fractionally worse than Mueller, the guys everyone beats on while ignoring pucks flying into the Devils net whenever Severson's on the ice.

I didn't mention posession...But this is rich...Take a 6 game sample after he's pretty much been the best Devil D-man in this category for the last 5 years? Come on.

I'd also contend he owes it to the fans to make changes before we go into this home Rangers game like blindfolded sitting ducks, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Yup...that is why I said over the last 5 years. You even bolded it nicely.

Last year Severson was more of a shutdown role than he had ever been before. And while the events against were higher last year, Severson still generated (CorsiFor) 116 more events for than ANYONE on the team.

That is what his strength is. And this staff puts him with partners and positions that do not play to strengths

Nico is 20 Hughes is 18 Bratt is 20 and so forth. You raise a valid point but I'm not sure the current version of the team is the realization of Shero's plan so much as a place holder while the young players mature.
