Well I do happen to work in the public relations field and thing the reaction is overblown, but expected. The context is a group dinner (at like 5 or 6 pm) on a holiday, specifically Thanksgiving for the Canadian players. It is fine. It isn’t them partying up at a club late night before a game.

Having said that, I would have advised PK not to post the picture, even well intended. He isn’t in Nashville/Midwest anymore and on the East Coast these things can be taken out of context. If this team actually got media attention, it would probably have the rep as one of the more difficult places to play.

But overall this is an overreaction and much to do about nothing.

I agree with you only on the last part.

Severson has been on the ice for 60% of the opponents goals this season.

Just 'cause it's Thanksgiving for them, doesn't mean that Ray isn't looking for a new coaching staff (and the players found out about it)....

Unfortunately, all he cares about is for his players to push the play forward and doesn't care about defense.

When was the last time he actually said we should be better defensively in one of his press conferences ?

He’s been awful and has earned a benching. Subban was the worst player on the ice last game, however.

Subban has been mostly horrible since like game 2. The whole defense outside of Butcher stinks. Vatanen has been eh I guess. Greene was fine surprisingly. But the whole group is ass.

Nobodies defensive stats are going to look well when THIS is happening to you every game you're paired with Severson.

As I said, several goals against when Subban & Mueller have been on the ice for each were 0% the fault of either Subban or Mueller.

moving to to the left was not smart. Its not something you can easily do from game to game.

That has nothing to do with it. If he doesn't have the awareness to cover the front of the net while his partner was battling in the corner, he's worse then I initially thought.

@BenedictGomez, if you could rewind a couple of seconds before that, Severson was literally behind Subban in the corner lmao. Kenny did a great job pointing out yestersay on the broadcast.

I'm also happy the team is together. Worst thing would be if they all started to detach. Until Shero does something (btw - why hasn't he spoken yet?), the only way through is for the players to solve it together. The coaching staff is certainly out of ideas.

However, you cannot just disregard the side of the ice that he is used to playing on. That definitely plays a factor.

Even though there's no way you as a forward can possibly anticipate Severson, well Severson'ing in quite that manner, 20 year old Nico Hischier instantly recognized it & is attempting to cover Severson's vacant area.

All the while while thinking "WTH is he doing" I'm sure.

The kid is phenomenal.

Agreed. We can chalk this up as another egregious oversight (read: failure) by the staff.

Discussed Vatanen's ability to play both sides all summer, saw Vatanen at LD in the preseason, and then in the first few games... then, abruptly, he gets alternated with Severson. Very illogical... a complete inability to maximize the players/talents they've been given.

I think you and the poster from before that made the comment about the outrage being misplaced "I'm mad and therefore will ruin anyone else's ability to enjoy this" are right on target. This sort of outrage discussion is a bigger societal issue with the inside look at things that social media affords the average fan. I'm guessing most of us have had a couple of bad weeks at work. I know I have. I've never skipped eating to show my remorse or let it impact my relationship or activities with my kids or my wife. Frankly, they are more important to me than anyone else and I expect that the players find their relationships with each other more important than their relationship to the fanbase. That's probably hard for some folks to accept but I'd be very surprised if it wasn't the case.

It was a negative opinion that was downright stupid and totally unreasonable.

That's why just about everyone got into it 'cause it was such an ABSURD take.

Subban posting a picture of the Team celebrating CANADIAN THANKSGIVING (did you miss that part, Mr. Irony?) is such "bad PR"(according to you and @Taylor Hall )....oh we are soooooo outraged.

You appear correct about his importance to the team, but to me, that's the symbol of the failure so far to build a decent defense. Relying on Andy Greene at this point because they don't have anyone else is a big problem as I see it.

What is outragous is that they have given up 29 goals in 6 games...Far and away the worst in the league...If you want to blame Severson for that, that's your prerogative. But the idea seems absurd to me.
