I would love to make some sort of trade/move, but jesus you guys have to realize that we are bound to improve just from development...

Hall might have a down season, but I think last year was more of a breakout for him than a fluke.

Nico only has up to go. He will be bigger and stronger and I'd be shocked if he doesn't build on his rookie campaign.
Bratt is similar to Nico. He wore down and should be better prepared.

Santini/Severson will likely make some sort of improvement. I'd be shocked it both plateau as what they currently are.

Butcher will likely continue to improve and become a solid top 4 D.
Wood will continue to improve.

Zacha is more of a question mark, but really can't be worse than he's been. He might just be what he is or he could become a bonafide top 6 player.

Cory likely won't shit the bed again and will be back to form.

We just have too much youth to not improve organically. And I just listed the roster players from last year. Quenneville or McLeod could also make a splash.

i agree with pretty much everything you say.. I think the teams biggest question mark is actually goaltending I am not in the cory won't shit the bed camp.. i think we are seeing exactly what he is a goalie in decline he isn't getting any better and kinkaid is certainly no lock... he showed some nice promise last season but certainly goaltending is this teams biggest elephant in the room

Why is there so much complaining going on here?

Whatever happened to PATIENCE?

Rome wasn't built in a day and a NJ Devils Cup-Contending team won't be the first. o_O

In Shero We Trust....to make the SMART DEALS necessary for the Devils FUTURE as well as the present.

The defenders in front of the goalies could stand to be improved as well.

It's been what I've said since hr 2 when people were complaining.... though 1 is doing more bitching than anyone.

I already pointed that out.

And the fact that he has a RAGS avatar that CONSTANTLY is shoved in our faces, post after post after post, is just plain annoying.

Overall play by far the best rookie we ever had.
Eh.

Marty Brodeur 1993-1994, 27-11-8, 2.40 GAA, .915 Sv%, followed by 1.95 GAA in the playoffs to lead the team to the ECF.

Scott Gomez 1999-2000, 82 GP, 19G, 51 A, 70 Pts, +14

Both won the Calder.

Kirk Muller 1984-1985, 80 GP (out of 80), 17 G, 54 A, 71 Pts, but he was -31.

Scott Niedermayer 1992-1992, 80 GP, 11G, 29 A, 40 Pts,+8

I'd put Hischier just above Muller, below Gomez.

I think the only reason that Marty might get a few points taken off for that year (and it isn't his fault) is because Lemaire really didn't make him the permanent starter and he didn't play a lot of games. He was rotating them a lot during the regular season, just back and forth and back and forth. He even did it in the Boston series in the playoffs. He only played like 40-something games that years. He probably should have played a few more than that, even though you couldn't have asked for a much better season that year from the team, standings wise.

Here is the problem with patience in a league where it is what have you done for me lately, other teams in the division have made moves to get better. This team so far has not done anything (not that Shero hasn't tried) that would make them better than last year and better than teams trying to catch them.

That is the problemw it the patience. You can not continue to not make moves and just hope your guys continue to get better, because not all of them will and even if they do, some will miss games due to injuries that can leave a huge hole to fill depending on the position.

I also hope Mueller will step up, in addition to Butcher, Severson, and Santini.

I love Mueller’s size, his skating stride and ability at times to control the game in front of him. He’s got the potential to be a # 1 defender. Just a classic build and skill set. The shoulder injury set him back last year, but when he was playing well the team played well. When Hynes put him back in as we came back from the coast last April in dire straights, he along with Kinkaid helped trigger that, what was it, 10 - 1 - 1 run that clinched a playoff spot for us? Even if Hynes did sit him again towards the very end. He was eye opening during that run.

So my point is, don’t forget to mention him, his development could also be a key. (I think he also played very well for the Swiss in that tournament after the season, also lending credence to the idea that he has major potential).

Have the teams around us really gotten that much better? The Isles lost their franchise player and replaced him with plugs. The Rangers are rebuilding. The Flyers got better in the short term but may end up losing Simmonds, and their goaltending still sucks. The Pens added Jack Johnson, who sucks. The Canes got Hamilton and De Haan, but lost Hanifin and Lindholm, and still may trade Faulk and/or Skinner. The Caps are basically the same, minus Grubauer and Orpik.

Well the teams already above us got (and are getting, if Tampa lands EK) better which isn't really a concern at the moment since it's mostly the big three in the Atlantic - unless we get the second WC we'd only have to face one in the playoffs anyway - but the teams around us are another story.

You have to look at Florida - they did trade for Hoffman but Luongo isn't getting any younger, Columbus - they're pretty much at status quo for the moment though I could see a downturn under Torts eventually, and bear in mind Carolina was 15 points behind us last year so even if they did improve it's gotta be by a bit to get into the Florida-CBJ-us tier. We weren't that far behind the other Metro teams either.

How can you lose a bet to a Rags fan the season they finish in last place
He lost the bet to me, saying that Zacha would be traded by the start of 2018. Then went awol for a few months and I hounded him until he threw one up. Whatever crazy stuff he says aside, gotta give him credit, I haven't seen him post on the main board once with out at least a couple people saying "Why the hell is a Rangers fan saying that?" but he still has it.
