Exactly. This is the sort of move a GM should make after his team has been embarrassed for seven games straight. Really gives me confidence we'll get back on track in no time.

Firing Hynes would be better than calling up Helgeson. Helgeson was useless last year. Worse than useless in fact. And if we have to make a call up why not Auvitu? Auvitu is actually NHL caliber, unlike Helgeson the train wreck.

ETA: Callng up Helgeson does send a message, though. Sends a message that we are utterly embracing this failure. First overall pick, here we come.

This is like the week long argument of the hiring of Nasreddine, useless overreaction. Helgeson will more than likely be the 7th defenseman. He may see some game time, and in that time probably have around 11 minutes of ice time. This is not a make or break move. This is not the breaking point of this team.

Complain about Henrique still on his disappearing act, Greene regressing, Palms not doing anything, Cory being out of sorts, or so many other options. This is such a non-issue for this team right now but some are acting like this is the move that seals our fate.

The fact that this organization's response to a seven game lose streak with many blowouts is to call up a useless defenseman speaks volumes. Most teams would fire the coach, but we just call up a terrible defenseman. That will really turn things around (or do we not want to turn things around...).
