I caught a large number of Crimson games this year, and while I think Laf is one of our better prospects, everything will hinge on how well his game translates. He's not a guy that goes out and takes games over or is particularly difficult to neutralize. He plays a heady game, he tries to find seams, and he likes to have the puck on his stick and use his vision.

He's a lot like Iafallo, to be honest. Not as quick, but maybe a bit better hands and is a swiss army knife. I know a lot of prospect mags talk about the hard edge to his game, but I didn't see much of that at all.

I agree. Can be a very good middle-sixer who can play in all situations.

Good article by Austin. It has the part from Stoll about Ziemmer written down, but also has some words from Ziemmer himself.

Went to the scrimmage - the players from the AHL stood out the most. Though, Pinelli has sick hands.

Ziemmer threw a reverse hit on Pinelli and showed some sick hands also.

Sparkes checked a player into the bench.

Helenius looks like he doesn't belong out there - way ahead of most of the players.
Hey Johnny, for Helenius do you mean he’s better than most of the guys?

Yes he looks like he doesn’t belong. Way better.
As he should. Players that play a full year of pro in the AHL should be better. Project player, not a good fighter, not really a tough guy by nature, working on playing more with an edge which he'll need to make it to the next level.. Needs a lot of work to make the NHL someday. Here's Stollie's take in camp on his progress.

If all the Andrew tate craziness is real then most of the newer generation in the next 5 years are going to be Jujitsu specialists who throw down every match. And biosteel will be replaced with Pelegrino.

I guess that’s a positive. This current generation are all afraid to fight it seems.

Slukynsky could be a "keeper"!Portillo and Slukynsky as the goaltending tandem in say 3-4 years
I expect Slukynsky to be a 5-6 year "project".

D+1 season with Fargo Force (USHL). This is set.
D+2 Northern Michigan freshman. This is set. There might be a tandem battle but his projected partner, Linards Lipskis, is older and may just be more refined.
D+3 Northern Michigan sophomore (same as above, maybe he's taken the No. 1 spot)
D+4 Northern Michigan junior (maybe has stolen the No. 1 job by now). If he stole the job earlier, maybe he'll sign a contract and leave college, but he would likely play in the AHL after going pro.
D+5 Northern Michigan senior or AHL 2nd year
D+6 AHL or NHL first year.

Goalies are definitely longer-term commitments, because they heavily depend on focus and enough physical athleticism where they don't get injured making saves.

If he takes 6 years, he'll be 24 years old when he enters the NHL. While Portillo is new to Kings fans, he's going to be 23 years old in his first full professional season.

So, I'm excited for Slukynsky, but I encourage people to enjoy the maturation of his game, because if he's playing in the NHL before 2028, I will be very pleasantly surprised. It means he's dominated in at least one of the leagues along the way.

The comments about him being essentially self taught at this point as well as his leadedrship and work ethic jumped out at me

that's a guy who could stand to benefit heavily from a good goalie coach. Eager to watch his progress. He's YOUNG and even great goalies are a slow burn. Hell, 2028 feels generous for him!

And the answer is, expectedly, a no. ****ing embarrassing:

That's so Kings™

Smaller market teams are not only providing a feed but commentary

We're cutting our media staff and not streaming things hardcore fans are excited about

There couldn't be a bigger 'f*** you' to the die hards than "yeah we aren't going to stream it plus we aren't going to let you either"

Like if you're not going to pitch in for the coverage the least you could do is enjoy the free press and get the f*** out of the way...but these guys just cannot get out of their own way on anything can they

Been like this for years and it's not about to change. Remember saying this a few times in the past, imagine the Kings drafting a generational talent first overall and all fans are excited to seen him, only to have the Kings say nah why try to promote and sell our future franchise player. Only the Kings. Lol. I mean most our prospects arn't the best but still would be nice to expose the product to your loyal fans yeah.

you'd think it would be logical to drum up interest during the offseason by showing stuff like this but not to these geniuses..

Life is sometimes more complicated than as is presented on social media.
Is streaming the game, even without pxp, a major issue? Is it just not interest with management? Nobody who they wanted to make available? Is it a rights/legal issue?

Other teams stream and do play by play. The facility is open to the public.

What are the complications?

Not streaming it is lazy, but that's a choice.

Not allowing others to provide free coverage is another, far more dickish, choice.

If there's a reason they 'can't' then they can communicate and save some face. Otherwise, they're getting left in the dust by AHL teams.

It's a f***ing AEG operation in the biggest media market in the world, so yeah, I'm going to be a pissy little bitch about their lazy use of massive resources. Especially in the face of further media cuts. These guys are dropping the ball in myriad ways repeatedly. What's the business plan here? A f***ing drunk monkey could do Luc's job right now provided that monkey spoke French to Brisson.

There's no more LA times, we've lost media staff, there's no TV deal...and they're not letting fans help by streaming a rookie camp for the die hards?

I don't give a shit about the behind-the-scenes, THIS is what I personally see, the LA kings don't give a shit about fans that aren't spending money to be in the boxes on game night.

AEG let Blake/Luc stage a coup -- convinced them to drop Dean and give the organization to those bozos. That tells me all i need to know about AEG and what they think of (or lack thereof) the Kings/Hockey.
