Any team in the league would love to have a Tyler Bertuzzi at $3.5M. Ultimately, he will still cash in next off season for what he brings to the table.

In regards to Mantha, he’s going to be on the trade radar for the next couple of years. Doubt he will be around come time the Wings are competing again. Just look at good players in organizations going through rebuilds from the beginning. As an example, Colorado no longer has Stastny, Duchesne, etc. Supposed building blocks who ultimately make their way somewhere else before their original team sees success.

Out of the so-called core Detroit has, you’re probably only looking at Larkin, Bertuzzi and Hronek, who’ve assumed their place on the team already, who will be there when it’s all said and done.

It's only low at most by 500,000 (closer to 250,00) which is insignificant when talking this kind of money.
Guys have been paid a lot more for less. Explain a Nylander contract and this. I don't even like Bert but this is a stick in the eye for RFA's

Why would Bert be there but not Mantha?

Nylander was a contract negotiation and Bertuzzi was an arbitration award, not the same thing at all. Team asked for 3.15 and he asked for 4.25, and he got 3.5, which is only a little less than halfway between both.

Dubas is a bad GM.
Yzerman is a good GM

Also, Nylander held out and had a bunch of leverage. Bertuzzi literally went and surrendered any leverage he had by giving the case to an arbitrator whose ruling he would have to follow

That and Nylander being a much better hockey player with far better career results to this point..
