Hayes for AA +

It seems like Hayes will be gone before the end of the season, however trading him now could get best value. Red Wings get a center to secure that 2nd line role once HZ is done and Rangers get a speedy winger/center who can be moved around.

Gustav is older, Rangers need to get younger. They take potential over a 20 goal scorer.

Detroit can’t afford the difference in cap. Trade doesn’t make sense for the Wings.

Detroit is in the infancy of their rebuild. Don't think it makes sense to trade the younger, cost-controlled RFA player for the older, more expensive and soon to be UFA player.

Doesn't really do much for the Wings being they're rebuilding, Hayes is older, less skilled and arguably has less upside atp, personally don't see his game aging very well. If Wings do trade AA, it's not gonna be for someone who's older

Detroit will definitely add a 6' 6" 220 pound center this year. Thing is, we don't have to give up assets to do it...

I don’t see how this trade makes any sense for Detroit. Sure, Hayes is a good player but getting an older guy about to hit the UFA market while adding a plus on top just isn’t a smart move for a team still on the way down waiting to hit rock bottom.

Hayes to Detroit doesn’t really make sense. There’s nothing on the Wings that (realistically) excites me anyway. I’d want a 1st+ for Hayes but the Wings 1st will be too valuable to move for Hayes. I’d love a deal around Berggren but again, no reason for the Wings to do it
