Hawker in peace ...
GG you guys.
No way our depleted roster any right to hang w/ your depth but ... almost snuck one by ya. ;-)
Thursday ...

Your guys played great considering the injuries and showed a ton of hustle and resiliency. We didn’t have our game tonight but Hawks took advantage when opportunities presented themselves. Good luck this year and hope you all get healthy over there.

Holy

the quadruple deke

btw i want to point something out: the original The Mighty Ducks has a genuinely excellent opening sequence- in it, an insane man tells a ten year old boy that if he doesn't make the shot, he'll be letting down his dead father. It's so intense and f***ed up and perfectly sets up the protagonist, the antagonist and the central conflict and theme of the film. All in the opening credits!

His dad wasn’t dead at the time, was he? If I’m remembering that, holy f***. f***ing Disney.

According to Wikipedia he was:

Bombay has an unpleasant history with the sport: as a youth in 1973, he was the Hawks’ star player but, struggling with the loss of his father, he missed a penalty shot in the championship game, disappointing his hyper-competitive coach, Jack Reilly (Lane Smith). The Hawks went on to lose in overtime, becoming one of their only championship defeats.

Yikes. I remember his dad died, I never made the connection it was before the shot in the goddamn opening credits. You knew the coach was a prick as soon as you saw it was the opposing lawyer from My Cousin Vinny.
