12 GP / 1G/3A/-1 ....0.33 ppg.

He's a career 0.57 ppg playoff performer, and has a reputation for being clutch.

Last year with the sens he went 19 GP/4G/7A and was a +12. Not spectacular, but that kind of showing would have been enough for the pens this year I think.

What happened? Would Bonino have been any better in that position if the Pens had kept him?

Brassard had a groin injury about 4 games left in the regular season. Prior to that he was really starting to fit in with the Pens. You could tell he wasn't right since coming back

And Bonino was too expensive. Bones had 1 magical playoff run in 2016 with Hags/Kessel and the next year he was plain garbage.

I think JR really flopped on that trade - Big Game Brass didn't have one big goal or primary assist that helped the Pens.
JR trading Cole was big for the Pens - he was such a playoff warrior and was our toughest D-Man
Reaves could have helped against the Caps rather than Kuhn, Sheary and a dreadful 4th line
Trading a first and perhaps a top prospect was a bad move

Bonino and Cullen scored big goals and played better than their replacements Brass and Sheahan

The loss of Ian Cole while subtle on the scoresheet was huge in the intangibles. Pens D was noticeably weaker. Hard to see it at the time of the trade but this obviously didn't work out for Pitt.

He was probably our 2nd best forward in game 5 and game 6. The coach misused him, should've played him more and higher in the lineup, not with Sheary and Kuhnackel for 10 mins a game. He was creating chances, just happened to have two seives as linemates.

Not on planet earth. Not like Bonino was any better last year. Brassard's track record is much better than Boninos, one subpar injury riddled playoff run doesn't change that.

Bonino was better for us than Brassard. Your Earth planet is very weird.

His injury really hurt a lot, and being thrown into the roster when he was isn't always easy.

With a full camp and season to work with the squad I have no doubts that he'll have a productive season next year.

Not last year. Bonino was invisible. Only difference is his team picked him up. 7 points..lol. And he played more mins and with better linemates. Brassard was actually better this year than Bonino was last year. Just that the team was worse.

Lets ignore Bonino was injured too last year. I mean, that’s the excuse for Brassard this year, isn’t it?
