I thought this was his best game thus far. Nice goal as well!

Hope he continues to trend in the right direction.

Good game. He was also really good in the Dallas game. Good on the PK, was very strong in his own zone today, especially late. Using his strength to push people off the puck. He has zero turnovers so far as well (which was a criticism of him).

I really hope Forbort-Clifton can become a strong pairing. I always thought Lauzon-Clifton struggled because they were both learning on the job, which meant they didn't have an experienced partner to lean on. Maybe Forbort can be that guy for Clifton, and Cliffy will really be able to develop.

Good game tonight for sure. Would still go Carlo and McAvoy out there with 1 minute left holding on to a one goal lead. Carlo is our best player at pinning the puck.

I honestly see him as a third pair equivalent to Lauzon, just older and way more expensive. He really brings value if he can nail down the LHD spot next to Charlie

now, there is plenty of time for him to prove better
Lauzon I think still had untapped offensive potential, but at this point in his career is definitely a PK specialist. His even strength numbers last year weren't great. Forbort is bigger and more experienced so I guess it's fair to pay a premium for that.

Overall I'm not terribly unhappy with what I've seen so far. Game 2 he was a mess, but has been steady otherwise. I'm hoping as he settles in to the zone system it will mask his flaws.

He clearly does not need to be playing top pair minutes with McAvoy. Situationally where his strengths are an asset, fine, but otherwise third pair with Cliffy and the PK is his level. He's good there.

Good point

whatever it is the opponents aren’t getting a lot of scoring chances

he absolutely has turnovers. I've seen it. In the Philly game I can think of at least 2.

NHL tracking of giveaways/takeaways is just a joke, worse than even the hits stat.

Not trying to pick on Forbort, it is what it is. His passing game is definitely his weakest attribute.

Defenseman Derek Forbort seems like a bargain after his strong effort against the Sharks - The Boston Globe

If the version of Derek Forbort that suited up Sunday keeps showing up all year, the Bruins will have a bargain on their hands.
The defensive-minded ex-Winnipeg Jet, who signed here for three years and $3 million last summer, was as stout defensively as advertised in Sunday’s 4-3 win over the Sharks. He also recorded his first points as a Bruin (1-1—2). After his best game as a Bruin, he was named third star.
“He’s a good guy to clear the front of the net. I thought he managed the puck well,” said coach Bruce Cassidy, who used the 6-foot-4-inch, 219-pound defender for a game-high 2:43 on the penalty kill, and paired him with Charlie McAvoy with the Bruins nursing a one-goal lead in a frenzied final few minutes of 5-on-6 action. That, Forbort said, is his “favorite time playing hockey.”

“He’s been great from the first day he’s been here,” Brad Marchand said. “In the room, off the ice, he gets along with everybody really well. He’s a great guy. On the ice, he’s one of those guys you hate to play against … he thrives in those [one-goal] situations.”

I do have concerns about his lack of mobility but also think that huge reach he has helps to eliminate many plays where he can`t keep pace with a player and is able to poke the puck away.

Really pleasantly surprised so far with how quiet his game is, the pts vs the Sharks a massive bonus but it`s what he does without the puck in his own end which has been impressive

I’ve liked him a lot, he has brought exactly what I thought he would. There are a lot of unsung guys in this league who just go out there and are effective. Not flashy, you won’t notice them every night, but that’s fine. Everyone has a role to play, and it’s been a great start for him.
