According to Emily Kaplan of ESPN:

"Per sources, at least four teams have called Vancouver asking about Demko's availability -- and the Canucks haven't said no to any of those teams. If Vancouver is serious about a rebuild, it could get a lot of assets for Demko, who is just 27 and under contract for three more years on a team-friendly $5 million per season"

Its about to get very interesting in the Demko front as Demo has returned today for practice.

Which 4 teams do you think are ones very interested in Demko?

Will the Canucks trade him before the TDL... He will not be cheap, especially with that team friendly cap hit.

Just a guess:

Kings: Copley helped save their season but his Peter Budaj-esque run might be coming to an end. Demko has SoCal roots and was briefly a junior King which would be a nice PR story. Quick is UFA after the season.

Sabres: Demko could probably coexist well with Luukkonen over the next few seasons.

Penguins: Jarry UFA after the season, not sure how they feel about extending him.

Senators: Talbot UFA after season, they were hoping to make a playoff push this season. Management might be on thinner ice once the new ownership group gets settled.

Jeff Marek also mentioned Columbus as a team who'd be interested but might be tough to move Merzlikins. San Jose could certainly use a goalie but probably doesn't make sense for them to spend assets right now.

Thats a good list, not sure about Sabres though, they have Devon Levi in the pipeline and im sure they are high on him. Although he is only 21 yrs old so timeline might fit with Demko and Levi

I've been pretty happy with the Leafs goaltending but if Demko is available you have to look into it, at the same time It's ESPN, so the credibility is questionable

The odds Demko is traded are pretty small I'd assume. From a Canucks POV, I think they would need a return similar to Horvat's to even consider. Otherwise, why would they deal a very good goalie in his prime on a very good deal (Yes, I get he struggled at the start of the year.)

Goalies don't get those types of returns, which kind ends the discussion in my view.

No reason to hang on to him in rebuild mode. Worst case scenario is injuries have done him in and other teams find out. Best case scenario is he comes back to form and hurts the tank. Trade him for whatever you can get.

31 and never established himself as a starter, career AHL starter/NHL Back-up. Villalta probably has some potential (good year in AHL this year) but not enough to bet the future on, and Peterson is in the AHL for a reason. I think LA will go hard after Demko or Gibson, with preference being Demko.

But the thing is; we’re not in rebuild mode, we never have been. Ownership will not allow it. Horvat trade way for asset retention purposes and we will do another stupid retool but you won’t ever see this team strip down to zero like a proper rebuild.

Wait, are the Canucks rebuilding? I think they aren't and have no plans to. Which means they likely just don't trust Demko, which means buyer beware here.

I’m basically going to promise you Buffalo isn’t interested. It goes against every philosophy the front office has shown at the position.

media sees Buffalo doing something different than everyone and connects them because they think they’ll act like everyone else. It uses an opposite to provide itself with a proof.

If they trade Demko now I thinks it’s either because he wants out they get an offer they can’t refuse

I doubt these talks go anywhere serious unless Demko is back on the ice and performing close to his usual level.

There were already rumors about some being concerned about his injuries going back to last off-season and that was before his poor play. If he doesn't get back on track over the next few weeks, I doubt many teams are going to pay what the Canucks want.

He'll have to come back next season and perform to repair his value.

Strip down to Zero for a "proper" rebuild. What does this even mean? trade everyone on the roster?
Who stripped it down to zero and won a cup? Did Avs do this? Boston? St Louis? Washington?

Avs moved on from guys like Duchene, Barrie, Varlamov, Kerfoot, Zadorov etc from their horrible seasons but they kept guys like Mack, Ranta, LAndeskog. That certainly cant be considered stripping it down to a zero.

the article you just posted says he's not available ...

Where does it say that?

And Varlamov was a damned good goalie when they let him walk.
