Yes they did. But they waived Chisholm instead of waiving Stanley - to make room for Monahan.

Pre-cal didn't exist when I was in high school.
We did call it high-school though.
Your high school tenure pre-dates Sir Isaac Newton?!

Both performing as you would expect from depth defenseman, but a very legitimate question if we kept the right one. Unlikely either will be more than a 6/7/8 throughout their career.
Except that we are one injury away from Stanely-Schmidt as our 3rd pairing...

and we are 11 days away from most likely adding somebody
We will add a Lyubushkin type if anyone.... Im wishing for Sean Durzi but thats not Chevy's style

The trouble with Lyubushkin is that he's basically Kovacevic.

The mild have allowed 61 more goals against than us to this point, not surprised our castoff #8 is turning heads over in minny
Their goaltending has been terrible. Fleury's pushing 40, and Gustavsson's last season was a small sample run "in the zone". They're both <.900 this year

Defensively the Wild are not too bad. Maybe not quite as good as the Jets, but the biggest difference in goals-against is that the Jets are #1 in the league in SV% and Minnesota is #28.

Its weird how the Jets are a draft and develop team but then if we lose a guy we developed, everyone proceeds to crap all over him... Kovacevic and Chisholm are good players - they are definitely no worse than Schmidt and Stan - org made tough decisions and that's the way it is

At the end of the day, Chisholm has 3 pts in 5 games and is playing 20 mins a game... Kova has 6 goals on the season and a ton of blocked shots... Stan is still sheltered and generates zero offence or transition.

Not a 'huge' deal but there's no part of me that believe Chisholm or Kovacevic are 'worse' players than Schmidt and Stanley - they just weren't picked in the first round and aren't making $6m so they're gone... NHL is a strange place.

If you were to look purely at the stats line Chisholm's trajectory makes a lot sense. Productive in juniors, increasing production every year in the AHL and finally cracks the NHL in a PP role and has 4 pts in 6 games so far.

Small sample size, yes. Does it feel weird that we drafted and developed and invested 6 years into this guy who pretty much passed every test thrown at him other than the NHL then proceeded to lose him for nothing before giving him a shot in the NHL? Yes. 24 is not that late for a dman to start his NHL career

What's interesting is that he's not just running on PP scoring. His icetime has been increasing and at last game he played the 2nd most mins at 5v5 out of all Wild d-men. It means one of two things, either the Wild coach already trusts him or the Wild are trying to get a good sample on him to see what they have before they make a decision on him this summer.

Wild are either getting lucky or they are doing their homework with picking up rookie defencemen.
They got Brock Faber and a 1st from the Kings for Fiala and picked up Chisholm for nothing.

They’re so smart that they’ve managed to not win a playoff round for 8 years and are on track to miss the playoffs again.

Bad teams put bad players in big roles and do poorly.

They've been getting bottom 5 goaltending this season vs. top 3 goaltending last year. That's the difference between the 103 points they put up last season and the 86 points they're on pace for this year. These guys aren't the Sharks or Blackhawks...

Chisholm settling into top 4 spot with return of injured players.

3rd most ice time of D so far tonite.

Really glad for him!
Last few games he's been 3rd pairing... still up in the air

Can't change the fact that he has 6 pts in 11 games and Big Stan has 1 in 14...

yeah. He got pushed down to third when players came back from injury. After a few games And it looks like they moved him back up. That’s super promising for him.

And big Stan has 2 pts!! I’m giving him an assist on the krakens 4th goal Tuesday night.

Minnesota's 3rd pairing has been Mermis and Merrill for awhile, they'll be giving Chisholm every opportunity to show he can be better than them. Neither should be more than a #7 option and their season is done. May as well see what Chisholm can do.
