Mark Alt is quietly having a good season and plays RD.

I just hope this isn't a season ending knee injury that makes Luke untradeable.

There's no cap issue with calling up MacDonald while Streit is on LTIR. To call up him or any other dman from the Phantoms, they just need to free up a roster spot, probably by putting LSchenn on IR.

Its annoying how Manning keeps getting breaks that keep him in the line up.

If Lukes out long term, Id call up Amac and keep manning in the press box.

Who knows but I'm thinking they won't call-up MacDonald until they know they can keep him up for good.

Would be nice to see Morin get the call but with Gostisbehere & Manning already in the lineup that's probably not likely.

MacDonald has been playing well down there but of all possible callups he is the worst fit for Hakstol's system. Aggressive play in the neutral and preventing clean zone entries are essential but Mac Donald is soft as toilet paper and always criticised for letting them gain the zone too easy while collapsing towards the corners and waiting for help to arrive or blocking shots rather then preventing them from shooting.
He is like the Sam Gagner of the defense...somewhat capable but the wrong player on the wrong team.

Isn't Gordon using a similar system in LHV? If he isn't, he should be to get the young guys ready for the Flyers.

The Phantoms are in pretty bad shape on the injury front to their backend as well. Pettersson who was replacing Marti left yesterday's game & didn't return.

This is why having depth at both levels is pretty key so even with all his faults Manning would still serve purpose down in LV.

It's funny how everyone keeps bad mouthing Manning, yet he is quietly improving his play game by game. Yes, I know Ghost is helping him, but Ghost would be an asset for any partner. Last night Manning had two shots on goal, three hits, two blocked shots, stuck up for a teammate, had good possession numbers, and wasn't on the ice for any goals against. What more do you want from the guy??? Keep he and Ghost together and let's focus on the other two pairings.

Manning has at least a play or two per game where the puck explodes off his stick on a simple play leading to an odd man rush the other way. The guy literally shot one into the safety netting last night with pretty much an open shooting lane.

The guy is terrible & overmatched at this level. His skill level & instincts are terrible.

He handles the puck like it's on fire.

The whole Manning bashing is getting old. He is a bottom pairing NHL/AHL tweener without much upside and only here to bridge the gap until some of the younger prospects are ready to break in.

At least he can skate, execute the system and pass the puck to Ghost who will take care of the rest. Veterans like Nick Schultz or Luke Schenn who are supposed to fare much better have come up with the same or even more glaring mistakes this year.

Only because they've been used against good players in defensive situations. If you stuck Manning out there against top lines for DZ draws he'd be exposed even more than he has already.

His skating is no better than average and his execution... well, I'm all in favor of it.

Schenn & Schultz are terrible but they're still better than Manning. They're also being used in more difficult roles than Manning.

The whole "well the rest of the defense is crap so let's stop focusing much on the AHLer" defense is stupid.

The Flyers can't have their best puck moving offensive defensemen out there with their top lines because of Manning right now.

MDZ-Gudas
Schultz-Streit
Medvedev-Ghost

That's what I want to see once everyone is fit and Schenn is traded. The difference in offensive ability between Manning and Medvedev is massive.

First, Manning is not improving. He's as horrible as he's always been and he's not going to get any better. This is a finished project we're looking at... like macaroni art done by Hellen Keller

Second, I think the people defending him are ignoring something pretty telling. The fact that he's looked this bad while being sheltered. The whole "Schultz is looking bad too" excuse doesn't hold much water when you realize how much easier Mannings minutes are. Plus, Manning has atill looked worse no matter what anyone says. Name all the things that Schultz is bad at and they all apply to manning, plus more.

Can't believe I'm saying this but hopefully this is for the rest of the season.

Welcome back Amac.

Best case scenario he plays well and then replaces Manning when Schenn comes back. Then by the time Streit is healthy we've moved enough trash out to keep him up.
