If Rangers are not interesting in retaining back salary, what incentive do teams have now to trade for DeAngelo when they could have had him for free from waivers.
Look, it's really very simple. These are the Rangers options:
Option A: Trade ADA
Option B: Send ADA home and buy him out in the summer
The buyout is very cheap because ADA is only 25.
So if option A isn't at least as good as option B, option A isn't happening.
Get it? The Ranger will take equal cap for this year. What they won't do is take significant cap for any year beyond this one.
