The hell is he talking about?

Him or me?

I'm talking about how the majority of the money the NHL makes each year comes from sources other than the TV deals.

For instance when you combine the NHL's new deal with Rogers (Canada) with their current deal with NBC (United States) you get an annual income of roughly $550 million. The NHL made over 3.3 billion in 2012 (the last full year) and revenues have been going up since.

Unless he believes that the local TV contracts (not NBC or Rogers) are accounting for an additional $1.5 billion (rounded off) in annual revenue (highly unlikely) then like I said the bulk of the NHL's money comes from sources other than TV contracts.

Even so, how much gate revenue comes from Canada? It's got to be at least a third.

Some quick calculations based off of this list says that Canadian team revenues make up 27.5% of total league revenue.

Not sure how Forbes got those numbers, or how they relate to gate revenue, or "hockey-related revenue", or revenue sharing, but it gives a rough idea.

Most cap geeks say 35% to 45% for Canadian HRR
