Couldn't be happier about it as I’m not rooting against him and my criticism is always about wanting him to play better since he’s good. He is and that’s great news for the team.
Seeing Krejci play with this very noticeable jump in his game/ effort is great but pisses me off at the same time. Where was this effort all season? Last season? 2019? Hate how he flips that switch on/off. He has the skill. Now with Hall here he’s once again added the will.

He has more room due to attention required on Hall (and Smith)

Before Hall or Smith. Teams 1.5 covered DK.
They werent concerned with Debrusk or Ritchie

This is subtle but matters

You mean the 2019 where Krejci scored a career-high 73 points in the regular season and then 16 in the playoffs despite playing with a concussed DeBrusk and one of Backes or Kuhlman on his right? That 2019?

I looked at what Chara took at the end of his time here. Different ages, different people but if there is one thing that is clear with this team....good players often seem to take less to stay here.

I’m hoping DK continues the trend.
Ahh I guess he has said differently about going home since, my mistake.

David Krejci isn't considering retirement in 2021

I think he’ll play ball with them but not at a $3m hair cut. Regardless I’d love him back for 1-2 years, he’ll likely be the best 2c for the price.

It's been there all season, he's just been passing it to 2 black holes on his wings who couldn't score in a whore house

I think Sweeney will have some leverage in the negotiations in that I really can't see Krej watching to play anywhere else. He's comfortable in Boston, has his family settled there. I think ideally for him he has one big move left and that's back home to Czechia once he retires from the NHL, or wherever else his family decide to end up. I'd be surprised if he's not willing to take an offer that's ballpark $5.5 mil p.a., then it just comes down to term.

Isn't his family settled in Carolina?

I agree it will depend on term/salary

Tbh something will have to give. Can't bring back everyone/make them all happy

Hall/Krejci/Carlo would be at the top of my list

Yeah I can’t really see him playing for another NHL team. Maybe if it’s in a nice weather, good team, 1 year deal like Florida for a last hoorah type situation. But I think he and the Bruins would have to be really far apart on a deal before he went looking.

Anything more than 3 years scares me.

Yeah I've edited my post - forgot his wife was American. I think my point stands though, Krejci will want to be a one-club player if at all possible.

There’s enough to go around but guys will need to take some pay cuts. Rask and Krejci specifically.

Debrusk just hasnt had that tenacity in him and I think it was hurting Krejci and Smith's play. Hall is just a fantastic fit in this line.

Just that play alone. Cliffy beauty step. Smith took the body. Krejci created his own space . Hall is fast enough to find a seem for krejci

If they could get them both for 9-10 million combined, that opens up 4.2 - 5.2 to go toward Hall.
Yeah it’s doable but Hall is gonna need play ball too, I think if he’s truly as bought in as it seems then if Krejci is inked he’ll make it work. Let Kuraly walk, bury Moore, whatever it takes.

UFAs Rask, Krejci, Hall and Reilly are musts. Would like back but could live without Miller. Let Kuraly and Halak walk.

Miller I’d keep too

Well just for an example:

The moves he made on his assist to Hall today? There would have been no point. Ritchie would have met him in that shooting area about a half hour late.

A whole lot of signing "wants". With not enough dough to work with. You also forgot to list Carlo who is a RFA

Again .. cant bring everyone back. Better not to think about at this time

Not to mention the fact that before Hall, Krejci had to do everything for his line. What winger has Krejci had since the Horton Lucic days that could carry the puck into the zone or create pressure on the forecheck? It’s crazy how someone can watch as many games as I do and not see that.

I didn’t list any RFAs. There’s plenty of dough to work with. Only worry is year after that needing to give 10 mil to Mcavoy and a Bergeron extension.

We can bring back everyone we need though. If necessary, we can let Tuukka go outright, or only sign him to a one year deal, freeing up space for a McAvoy contract when due. I'd rather roll the dice with Swayman and Halak/Another Vet than lose Hall or Krejci.

Or we can sign Tuuks to a reasonable deal and lose some combination of DeBrusk, Ritchie and Kase.

There is actually plenty of cap space and flexibility. There is no excuse for failing to keep all top 6 forwards, all other parts are expendable.
