If he's not good defensively then I hope he goes somewhere else. Last thing we need is another Dman that wishes he was a forward.

If there's one thing I really trust Poile and the group with, it's developing dmen. By the time Farrance hits his prime (25ish) Josi/Ellis/Ekholm will be on the back end of their careers (34ish).

Farrance went back to college because he knew it would be futile here. Best he could be was 5/6/7 before the B twins were signed. But probably minor league and minors were totally up in the air when he was making a decision. Any young player who chose to return to college for this year made a good call.

The Farrance I saw last night is nowhere near the NHL. He needs to do some serious work on his all-around game.

BU picks up an impressive comeback win with Farrance scoring the OT winner. Once again, I thought Del Gaizo looked terrific in that game but you can't put aside the fact that Farrance's ability to produce is undeniable. Farrance also had the assist on the game-tying goal in that game.

Farrance ends up with a 3-point night (1g, 2a) in 3-2 OT win for BU. He's up to 11 points in 5 games this season already.

Highlights of the game.

Didn't watch the game but I've watched two of his game this year and he hasn't looked great defensively if I'm being honest.
Well as a Defenseman that's my greater concern than whether he puts up forward like numbers. This league is littered with the corpses of Dmen who can generate offense and has the defensive game of strainer in the ocean.

Agreed that’s why I have a hard time seeing in him as top-four defenseman. A 3rd pairing PP specialist with a strong stay-at-home defense partner is a role where I could see him in the NHL.

Games. :(

He would have had a great chance to win it if it had been a normal season. But Boston U. having only 6 games and running out of tarmac to get very many more in before the playoffs start.
Ah, I didn't even think about that. That makes sense. He had to be a favorite going into the year I would've imagined, and then looking at lists he's wayyyy down.

Made me think of Farrance

On the plus side, if we're out, there really should be no reason we can't offer him the opportunity to play over a month of NHL games and make NHL money right away.

On the minus side, if we suck and look like a dumpster fire organization, maybe it helps water any seeds of doubt he might have about signing with us.

:dunno:

Good review on Farrance. Basically they're saying he has the tools to become a top-four NHL defenseman but his defensive game needs to improve for him to do so. I still view him as a 3rd pairing PP specialist at NHL-level.
