Winning a faceoff to create an offensive opportunity is useless in your opinion?

No winning a faceoff is good....Malhotra does it all the time, but funny how he don't get points out of it.

The point isn't a problem....all players get a lot of those points but DD, that's all he get lately. The problem is the conclusion we draw out of it.

Was DD good tonight? Was he playing as a worthy 1st liners?
Did he create a couple of play? Did he did his job as a playmaker?

Must people will tell you that DD is playing great right now, that he and Max got that chemistry and all of this is based on his points total and that's no matter how the play went down.

Why Desharnais is still with Pacioretty?

That's because Malhotra is an offensive black hole.

Yea DD played good tonight. He wasn't great like Patches or Beaulieu, but he had a solid game at both ends.

Actually, on these boards most people will say DD is a horrible leech. I think the reality is between those two extremes.

Again, people are obsessed with the "1st line" thing.

Desharnais will never be Getzlaf Kopitar Toews Tavares etc, some people here seem to think that because he plays with Pacioretty and gets your phantom "1st line center" title, that he should be playing at that level. Plekanec gets those kind of minutes(around 19min /game) and he won't be that player either.

This crap is just as dumb as if Leaf fans were ******** on Bernier for not being as good as Price/Rinne/Lundquist etc even though he is their "#1 goalie".

What was the reason again we don't put Galchenyuk down the middle?

We are a one-line team. Desharnais and Max don't have that great chemistry. All our other lines don't produces. Now that Eller is now a winger, we might put Galchneyuk down the middle since it was supposed to be hiim that blocked from doing so.....

With De La rose playing center
With Desharnais not creating plays and still refuses to shoot (predictable)
With the whole line up not producing except for whoever gets to play with Max
With the PP not doing that much better

Whats the reasons now ? Desharnais produces more, that's the reasons?

Malhotra wins faceoff just like DD and the fact the he doesn't get points out of it doesn't have anything to do with him being a black hole or not. That the same play.

DD played good, that's good for you? He didn't played bad at all....but i wouldn't say he was good either. Lost many battles, again refuses to shoot and killed a perfect set-up by Max, did some pretty boneheaded pass then ended nowhere near a player just like he did some very good like that one to Markov.

Wasn't a bad game, that was a good game....for a third liner.

Wingells just won a faceoff and Burns scores a goal.

Wingells gets a useless assist.;) (You know I like you Ohashi :))

You don't get it....did Wingels got 2 in the last 2 games (Lucky if you get one a year of those...last year DD got 5 assists like that. Offensive zone start for the most part)? Did Wingels spents the last 2 weekss getting ONLY these points? Did Wingels is considered to be an elite playmaker wwhile getting those points? Does Wingels have great chemistry with Burns while making those plays.....cause that's the conclusion you get out of those plays

Galchenyuk is more comfortable on the wing, he's having a breakthrough year, it's important to let him take that step forward on offense. Let him worry about defensive zone and faceoffs next year.

We're a one line team because Eller and Sekac have zero offensive creativity and are sucking down Plekanec. Galchenyuk can't come back soon enough...maybe Parenteau also if he can wake up.

Not sure what is the point of your post?

He also won several battles, made some solid defensive plays, breakouts, had 2 shots, and overall had a good game.

By that standard, Eller has had about 1 good game as a 3rd liner in his last 20.

That was tongue in cheek.:) I'm in a lighthearted mood after watching the Habs win tonight.

Well, Eller has 14 shots in the last in the last 5 games. Was pretty good in faceoff circle as he mostly are. Won a lot of boards battle, made some good play with Ple and Sekac over the last 3-4 game....but did he played well for that much? Nope!

If we keep DD there for doing what most 3rd liner does on a nightly basis, then there's no reason to leave him there? But i know...production = skills. Even if we don't see many great playmaking by DD, not many involvement in the plays, not shooting....always looking for Max and don't actually one single direct assists on Max's goals since they're reunited, the great chemistry exist....that's way much better.

so by your standards, its also hypothetically possible that say... desharnais has a great game while not getting a single point ? man all that props he's going to get!

If David Desharnais annoyed you so much,Go cheer for the Leafs.

Ridiculous logic. I like the Habs so much that I'm enduring seeing this useless smurf on our top-line, if you want the Habs to never win the cup, keep cheering on DD.

If that's basically all you achieve with 20 minutes of ice time, it's pretty close.
The guy had multiple nice set-ups. It's utterly ridiculous that you guys harp on him. He's not a 1st line centre, we all know that (at least I hope we do), but credit is never given when due. If Galchenyuk made that Markov pass, the whole board would have exploded.

If Eller made, it HF would have crashed.

Ridiculous logic. I like the Habs so much that I'm enduring seeing this useless smurf on our top-line, if you want the Habs to never win the cup, keep cheering on DD.
So we can't win a Cup with DD on the team? Someone seems to be confused when talking about ridiculous logic...
