The organization didn’t let him down. A rookie was the better option and they went with it. Still sucks for everyone but it’s not the organizations fault Backes wasn’t the best option.
Backes was convinced comming to Boston was his best chance at a cup.
He comes here and gets nothing buck flak from the media for his price tag and declining play. Then they DO get to game 7 of the Cup Final and not only is he sat for several games to just watch and not participate, he watches them lose.
I don't think it was the wrong decision strategically. As I said, " It might not be true, but it still feels that way."
It feels to me we let Backes down.
Imagine being him and having to deal with this. He leaves his lifelong team that he captained to go to a cup contender only to lose in game 7 to the team he left.
This is beyond Iginla, Backes was basically told he was not wanted on the Blues anymore and would be on the 3rd or 4th line. There were issues in the locker room with him leading the team.
It was time to go and he knew it. He made the right decision to come to Boston.
I cannot imagine whats going through that mans head and heart right now.
