As usual, you're too busy ranting about Hakstol to read the post.
Hextall probably had to promise Hakstol that he'd get time to ride out the rebuild, because why leave ND if you have to build a team for someone else?
At some point Hakstol would have to deliver (though he's lost twice in the 1st rd, same as Babcock in Toronto :sarcasm:), but Hextall was going to be patient.

Making the playoffs twice in three years during a rebuild when your GM doesn't sign a single major FA, trades one of your top six forwards for draft picks, and dumps all your veteran defensemen from a team that only had 84 points, would be considered a pretty good track record in most quarters.

This year has been a mess, but that doesn't negate that Hakstol delivered about the best you could expect under the circumstances his first three seasons, regardless of the opinion of the NNNs.

Sorry, f*** that. If a coach is failing you fire them, promises mean nothing. Hak riding out the rebuild should have been contingent on not being a loser, and he was a loser. That nullifies any promise.

Good riddance. It's 2 years overdue.

Oh yes I have zero faith in either one of them. Less than that for Lappy. But Hakstol is a failure and there is no reason for him to remain, especially fresh off breaking a goalie prospect for no goddamned reason.

I’m aware. Just saying it’s still nowhere near good enough and it’s still a mark against the organization. Not like he would be here for eternity, he was bound to be fired eventually. At this point in the season, it’s actually arguable keeping him til the off-season would’ve secured a draft pick. Now the damage is done and, in true Flyers fashion, they might just rebound just enough to get a mediocre pick and miss the playoffs.

Hart is still getting called up regardless though, right?
