I don't think Gregory Campbell ever won a fight, but he never hesitated to engage in one.....especially in defense of a teammate. And it absolutely was noticed by both fans and teammates.

He did beat up Pyatt, but he had to use his elbow pad to do it. But you make a great point, often just showing up is enough.

Campbell kicked the ever loving hell out of Tom Pyatt in that amazing game against the Scabs back in the day

Maybe not, but if he fought more than zero times in his career, threw 75 hits, and some of them even looked like he was trying to put the guy through the glass, maybe got a few roughing calls, I'd probably respect him a bit more.

You must hate the entire top 9 because not a single player outside of kuraly, Wagner, acciari , backes and Nordstrom not a single player had over 57 hits and Marchand was the only one of the top 9 to get into a fight.

Outside of the top 9, Pastrnak had 57 hits, next highest was heinen with 54.

And Marchand was the only top 9 player to get into a fight.

It’s a stretch on his part. Bergeron has been in the league how long??? How many fights does he have? For all Marchands antics, he’s only fought a few times. Weak.

Greg Campbell also never put up 80 pts in his first two seasons with the Bruins.

Two completely different player roles.

Joel Armia also just got two years with a $2.6m AAV. Only Panik came close to heinens production last year and had 1 less point. But heinen has 29 more points over the last two years.

This deal is an absolute steal for his comparable contracts around the league.

Was just coming here to mention the Armia deal. Don't see how anyone can be upset over this contract. Even if you don't like the player it is easily movable and even with what some seem to consider underwhelming production he's gonna more than earn that deal.

I LOVED that game....it makes me laugh though when I read about all the whining about the Blues in the play-offs or whining about guys like Krug and Gryz getting beat up by bigger guys. We used to play like that!!!

Sure....

Except that as I posted prior to this -----I've seen Bergeron, DeBrusk, Krejci and Pasta stand up for themselves in the past....something I've never seen Heinen do. Nordstrom --- who cares --- dime a dozen guy, who if he were here tomorrow or gone next week, we'd hardly notice.

Since you like stats so much, I'll just let you know that Heinen checks in at a .234 on my FMCDWIT rating scale.... lowest on the team.

Danton Heinen's problem is he doesn't drop the gloves. No way he's worth that contract...:naughty:
Take a good look, this is what a $2.8M face looks like. :naughty:

I'm with you man! Heinen is like Rick Middleton, imo. Charmin soft, 10 ply. I remember back in the day when Chris Nilan butt ended Middleton in the mouth, and Rick didn't even try to stand up for himself. Literally pathetic. Made me ashamed to be a Bruins fan.

Rick Middleton fought Dave Schultz and had 6 or 7 career fights.

The day Danton Heinen fights Ryan Reeves, I'll take your reply seriously.

Sarge, I respect you as a poster, I really do and have for years. I just think the vitriol over this deal is mainly based on his lack of physicality and I find that be complete f***ing nonsense. Not everyone on the roster has to be that kind of guy. It's okay to have a mix.

And if you think if that were to happen to Heinen and he responded the same way Middleton did, that I'd hold it against him, then you haven't paid attention to anything I've ever posted here.

He does need to shoot more. He has a career 10.5% shooting percentage which is slightly above average for a forward. That 10.5% also comes with the majority of his shots coming on his off wing. If he ends up on the 3rd line with Coyle, he will likely play his natural LW for once, which will be easier for him to create shots on his forehand.

I think you're mistaking my dislike for Heinen for having an issue over the deal.

I've said that the deal is fine. It's fair for his numbers.

I just don't like him as a player and don't like guys who are so passive.

I get more frustrated that people try to convince me (themselves, maybe) that he's something he isn't.

I'm not saying that Ferland or Ritchie are 30 goal guys just because I like the way they play.
I'm not ashamed to say that if one of those guys were on the team, and they scored 6 goals by March that they were a disappointment.

It seems that because some of us question Heinen's toughness, that his fans feel like they need to make things up in his defense.

If someone likes him, and doesn't mind having a few soft guys on the team, it doesn't make them a bad person --- I'm not judging anyone.

But don't try to talk about him like he's something he clearly isn't.
