Forwards:

Kind of hard to argue with a top six like this:

Briere, Satan, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Dumont and Hecht.

Hard to argue? How about those lines are small and soft? Go pick up a big, physical winger or two for those lines and it looks a lot better. The deal it self was fairly equal though.

And Zetterberg>Drury.

The Washington Capitals have sent their 5th round pick in 2004 to the Toronto Maple Leafs for the rights to UFA Robert Reichel. In addition, Washington is pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Reichel on a 1 yr, $2,000,000.00 contract. The contract is incentive laden, and could pay him as much as $4,000,000.00 should he meet the incentive requirements. It is understood that after this one year contract, Mr. Reichel will be returning home to play in Europe.

I hope I'm doing this right, if not, PM me, Danrik :)

The Flyers wish to offer contracts to:

Keith Primeau- 4 years $17M total
Alexei Zhamnov- 2 years $ 9.5M total + 1 year team option @ $3M
Vladimir Malakhov- 1 year @ $ 2.5M + 1 year player option at $2.75M

Kings:

Ziggy Palffy- 5 years $30M total + 1 year player option @ $4.5M
Luc Robitalle- 2 years $6M total
Scott Barney- 3 years $2.75M total

(P.S.- do I have Derek Armstrong and Nathan Dempsey or not...?)

The Primeau offer is good, I have no problem whatsoever with it. Could've predicted that, eh? Also, Robitaille offer is fine, as is the Barney offer. You don't have to re-sign Dempsey and Armstrong, they were re-signed by the Kings before the GM Game began, and as such, are under contract already.

However, I have a problem with your other offers...

I think Zhamnov should get maybe $5M a season instead of $4.75M, so fix that up and you're good.

I don't really see Malakhov taking a $1M paycut.

Palffy should at least get the same amount of money.

Minor deal but a huge day for the Calgary Flames...

CALGARY FLAMES HAVE RE-ACQUIRED FRANCHISES ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER IN #14 THEOREN FLEURY

Flames will send Chris Clark to the Hawks to complete the deal....

"Theo was the Calgary Flames for years but financial issues caused a breakup last time, Theo can still play at a high level despite "other" concerns. We're very happy to him back"

"Theo will be introduced and named the Team Captain at a press conference tommorow."

Wow, nice deal for both sides, IMO. Best wishes to Theo in his future. Transaction approved.

The Edmonton Oilers would like to qualify the following three players: Marc-Andre Bergeron, Jani Rita and Brad Isbister.

The Montreal Canadiens would like to qualify goaltender Eric Fichaud, as well as offer Mike Ribeiro $6M for 3 years, which works out to $2M a year. I know the original asking price was $2,5M, but I don't feel that Ribeiro is worth "LeCavalier money"

Boy.... short post.

The Ribeiro offer has the league's approval.

The Detriot Red Wings have made a deal with the once hated Colorado Avalanche.

The Detriot Red Wings have sent Backup Goalie Manny Legace to the Avalanche along with Detriots 4th round pick in 2005 for Goalie Andy Chioda and New Jerseys First round pick # 22 overall.

The Red Wings now have 4 first round picks in this years draft compared to a month ago when their highest pick was a 3rd rounder.
The wings now have the 13th,16th,18th and 22nd overall picks in this years draft.
The Red Wings will be looking to deal some of their first rounders to move up in the draft.

The Red Wings would also like to announce that they have signed Brent Sutter to a 3yr 2.1 million dollar contract with Bonuses should he lead the wings to a division title, First, second third round victory and a cool 2 million for a stanley cup in the first year.

Nice deal for you, IMO. Approved.

Brent Sutter has been hired, and it looks like Brian was hired as assistant GM of the Flames. Damned Desibasha got the guy who was my fallback plan to coach the Bruins if I couldn't get anyone else! Oh well, I forced him to release Turek ;) Back on topic, looks like your gaffe cost ya a good coach and also might cause the Penguins to sue you... ;)

Atlanta Thrashers offer following players contract:

Serge Aubin - 900,000/1yr
Kevyn Adams - 3 million/2yrs
Byron Dafoe - 2.8 million/1yr

Dafoe made $3.5 million this year, why would he take less? Make your case. However, the Adams and the Aubin offers look fine. They're approved.

The Florida Panthers have signed:

Byron Ritchie to a 2 year $1.15 Million deal (575K, 575K)
Darcy Hordichuk to a 2 year $1.2 Million deal (600K, 600K)
Simon Lejeunesse to a 2 year deal $1.2 Million deal (600K, 600K)

All moves pending league approval.

They all look fine. Approved.

It is understood that after this one year contract, Mr. Reichel will be returning home to play in Europe.

The deal is approved, as is the signing seeing as I can't see Reichel fetching much more than $2 million on the open market and could earn up to $4 million. Besides, he'll get plenty of ice time on the Caps, unless they make a big splash.

Palffy IMO will get more money then he made this season ($7M).. somewhere in the $9-10M range for sure. The guy has scored more the a point a game in every NHL season he's played, except his rookie year (0.52 pts per game) and a few seasons a ago (0.94 points per game) not many guys in this league can say the same, or have put up the same numbers as Ziggy has over the long years (10 NHL seasons)... not to mentioned his +/- rating, 5 seasons of a +18 or better.

career numbers:

GP 642
G 318
A 353
PTS 671
+/- +78
PIM 310
PPG 1.05

if anyone in this years UFA's is gonna get a nice raise, it's Palffy..... IMO

I think I remember hearing once that he likes it in LA, though... That would work in his favor, especially if the Kings GM can find a link to say that. But I agree, Palffy is one of the most underrated players in the NHL. He gets little attention, yet he's probably one of the top ten most talented players in the NHL.

of course he's gonna say he likes it in LA while he's still under contract with the team.. he's not an NBA player he's an NHLer...

I know for a fact that he'll be playing elsewhere next season (or the next time the NHL starts up again)... unless the Kings pay him $9-10M... and believe me Danrik, this is fact (I just prob could't prove it - if you know what I mean)

does everyone forget that Palffy was almost traded last season - before the All-Star and then he got hurt... LA was trying desperately to deal Palffy since the last off season, only cuz they know he wont be back (UFA status) and they can't afford him (maybe cuz guys like Allsion & Deadmarsh BIG money to stay home and visit doctors)

Palffy will at least $2M more then he is making now.... mark my words come July 1st

I highly, highly doubt any team dishes out $9 million a season to the 33 year old Palffy going into to the CBA unsertainty. And yes, that includes the Rangers.

Done, for both. Palffy $7M/year for 5 years. They're not hard pills to swallow. I'll even give Palffy a no trade clause if he wants it, and the player option can be $5.25M.

Zhamnov $5M a year for 2 years

The Flyers will offer a deal of 1 year @ $3.25M + 1 year player option @ $2.8 M

The Flyers offer Mark Recchi a 2 year deal $6M + 2 1-year options @ $2.5M and $2M

The Edmonton Oilers would like to qualify Tyler Moss, Radek Dvorak and Ty Conklin. They also would like to offer Petr Nedved $3,5M for 1 season. It was an up and down year for Nedved, and if he plays all of this year the same way he played last year post deadline, we'd gladly give him a nice payday. So we'll offer him this so he can prove himself next year. We'd also like to offer Scott Ferguson $550,000 for 2 seasons, which is the same he made last year. If the Nedved and Ferguson deals are approved, they'll count towards my three moves for tomorrow.

The Montreal Canadiens would like to qualify J-F Damphousse, Eric Fichaud and Rene Vydreny.

That is all.

I believe Dafoe doesn't deserve starter money at the time when Dafoe was signed he was signed to be a starter and was coming of a couple of good years.. since then he's been a back up, and his numbers havn't been great. I don't believe he deserves more then 3 million look at his numbers from the past 2 yrs. You'll Notice his numbers have been far below his career numbers and playing in less games. I will not pay him 3 millionto sit on the bench for 60 Plus games. At one time every player has to take a pay cut, because his play has taken a backward swing..

Last 2 yrs:

2003-04 Atlanta NHL 18 4 11 1 973 51 499 0 3.14 .898
2002-03 Atlanta NHL 17 5 11 1 895 65 472 0 4.36 .862

Compare to Garth Snow
who made $ 1,313,000 in 2003/2004
2003-04 NY Islanders NHL 39 14 15 5 2015 94 932 1 2.8 .899
2002-03 NY Islanders NHL 43 16 17 5 2390 92 1120 1 2.31 .918

2002-03 Columbus NHL 77 27 41 8 4511 232 2404 5 3.08 .903

Hmmm, Nedved takes a pretty big cut in salary, but if you add some bonuses that could boost his pay back up to $4.75 million, I guess I'll give it to you. Nedved's market value isn't all that high, IMO.

I need a goalie with experience to back up Kari Lehtonen. I have traded Pasi Nurminen, so therefore I believe Byron Dafoe is the best option for my team..
