Nice and long camp this time, usually aren't they around four days?

4 or 5 seems about right.

Now they'll probably have 4 days of instruction, 1 fun day, the arrival day of course, and then the scrimmage just before they leave.

That's great.

I just had a picture in my head of just Honka being out there with 5 or so coaches and I chuckled

We might get Stars development camp info tomorrow. 1st round pick Julius Honka is already here, skated with Valeri Nichushkin this morning.

Glad Honka is spending some extra time in Dallas. They're really counting on him.

They can't help it if on average they're more handsome than the Swedes.

How is it a scandinavian rivalry when Finland is not even a part of scandinavia? How many times do I need to tell you guys. :sarcasm:

Not very many invites at all. Most are local.

Here are the names that aren't local:

Collin Shirley 6-2 180 3/16/96 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Left Kamloops/Kootenay (WHL)
Rasmus Rinne 6-2 180 7/8/90 Hyvinkaa, Finland Left Assat (SM-Liiga)

My guess is Rinne is a serious contender for backing up Campbell. Haven't checked his stats yet, but he's too old to come over and play in the ECHL IMO. Not literally .. just mean he probably wouldn't.

I thought it was odd that Devin Shore was on it because he'd have to pay his own way, but then I noticed he went last year too. I was hoping it would be part of some surprise announcement that he'd be signing an ELC but I guess not.

Pretty sweet roster, get to see all of our new d-men. I look forward to the scouting reports from you guys, maybe G can take a long lunch from his job for it. ;)

Also kudos to Dallas being able to get every single pick here. It's difficult to get the Euro's here sometimes that were just drafted just a week earlier.

Just looked at Assat's roster ... they can't afford to lose Rinne. Dallas has a very good relationship with them.

I'd be a bit surprised if they signed him from out underneath them. I'm sure they have serious interest in the guy though. He seems like a legit goalie prospect.

He also has 1 year remaining on his Liiga contract, but that doesn't mean much usually.

Interesting situation though. The interest here is likely high .. between both.
