Yes but there were good players available: Stankoven, Zellweger, Morrow, Knies, Chibrikov for exampleTo be fair lots of guys in the second part of that first round aren't trending very well either.

They’re grooming him to be a defensive D because his offense isnt good enough to make him excel. There aren’t any other options. They're actually grooming him to be a more defensive D - he's not getting any offensive opportunity and we've heard some good things about his progress defensively. I'm not optimistic but that is the category that the club has him in.
Cleveland is the youngest team in the league and doing fairly well. There are oppurtunities there for the kids to take. Its actually nice for a change they have actual prospects there.Twenty-year-old first-year pro scuffling on an AHL team built with mostly minor league veterans.
Not uncommon. And maybe not the best situation for the player. Hopefully he fights through.
Fair point. Just took a quick look at the leading scorers. Seems like Svozil is off to a nice start.Cleveland is the youngest team in the league and doing fairly well. There are oppurtunities there for the kids to take. Its actually nice for a change they have actual prospects there.

I’m basically saying good players can be found a bit later and it’s scouts’ jobs to choose correctlyWhat do you mean for example?
These are the exceptions that prove that drafting past the 15th spot in the 21 draft was really tricky but sure 3.5 years after the draft hindsight is 20-20.
Wouldnt it be nice if scouts could predict physical and mental growth of kids at a 100% rateI’m basically saying good players can be found a bit later and it’s scouts’ jobs to choose correctly
