If he doesn't sign at today's deadline I'm going to guess he will be playing somewhere else next season. For that reason I think Dubas should give in to his demands and pay him no more than 7.5 million per.

Wasn't an alternative, but Leafs sign him in the high $6M range and then trade him next draft.
