You give MacT way too much credit.

It's a nice thing but let's see more bodies hit the floor.

He was the head of the snake of the old boys culture in hockey ops (not Lowe anymore IMO). Cut the head off and the rest will fall. I expect most of Howson and his staff to be gone too.

This is a big change in culture IMO and finally a turning of the page to a new era. Still tons of work to be done but this was a very important first step.

I think that seeing NHL coaches salaries going to $5M/yr. might be motivating him to get out of the Oilers org and try to eventually get another NHL gig. He probably has an out clause after year one in Russia to pursue NHL opportunities.

Why coaching and not management? I doubt if he would get even one call for a management position it was a simple scout or something.

In the shuffling madness
Of the lokamotiv breath,
Runs the all, time loser,...

For a moment there i thought you wrote a Haiku over MacT running to the KHL.. Is that a Haiku? 5-7-5 right?
Here's my take:
In the icy grip
Of the lokamotiv breath,
Sits the OBC

Beside my neighbor..
Google translated from the HC Lokomotiv team website..

HC Lokomotiv officially announces the appointment of Canadian specialist Craig McTavish to the post of head coach, with whom he signed a 2-year contract.

Craig McTavish is known as a titled striker who won 4 Stanley Cups in the Edmonton Oilers and the New York Rangers. As head coach, McTavish worked nine seasons in the NHL, in Edmonton. In 2006, under his leadership, the “oilmen” played in the Stanley Cup final. Craig McTavish also has experience as a head coach in the AHL, in the club "Chicago Wolfs." In addition, as an assistant to the head coach of the Canadian team, he twice became the silver medalist of the World Championship.

In recent years, McTavish worked in the management of the Edmonton Oilers, occupying the positions of general manager and vice president of hockey operations.

Yu.N. Yakovlev, President of Lokomotiv Holding Company:

- For our club, it was extremely important that Craig shares a strategy based on the broad involvement of his own students. He is well aware of many young players from the Lokomotiv system and will help them make a new career step. At the same time, Craig is ready to work successfully in a hard wage ceiling, which Lokomotiv, as we know, never exceeds. I believe that our talks were held in a constructive manner and the new head coach, thanks to his vast experience and knowledge, with the support of the entire Lokomotiv club system, is able to take the team to a higher level.

Craig McTavish, head coach of HC Lokomotiv:

- I look forward to the start of my cooperation with Lokomotiv and personally Mr. Yakovlev. In the past few years, I have often been to Russia, watched KHL matches and was interested in coaching here. I hope the upcoming season will be exciting and successful for our team.

On the full composition of the coaching staff of the team "Lokomotiv" for the season 2019/20. will be reported.
