At least Chayka is pulling the trigger now instead of waiting for the deadline. I can't see Strome or Perlini turning it around drastically like Domi, but I guess you never know. I like Schmaltz, we'll see what he can do here.

Strome has the head but slow hands and feet. Happy to wash our hands of him.

Perlini has the wheels and hands but no head. Opposite of Strome. He's dumb as a brick.

Schmaltz had 52 points last year and is 22.

It's too bad we don't have the budget to have Q coach all these ex-Hawks ;)

Interested to see what this does to our lines. Do we break up the Richardson-Grabner pairing and have Schmaltz slot into the 3rd line?

I think I'd like to see something like this:

Crouse-Stepan-Keller
Panik-Galchenyuk-Fischer
Grabner-Schmaltz-Hinostroza
Archibald-Richardson-Cousins

Wonder if he and Vinnie were linemates at all last year. From reading reactions, the reasonable feelings seem to be that this is a good player for two decent players/prospects.
Schmaltz is a player with all the tools in the world to be a top 6 forward, but sometimes plays a little lost seems to be the sentiment from Hawks fans.

I like it. Strome either wasnt given the chance here or blew it. We will never know which. Perlini was vrbata 2.0 with less hustle. I'm perfectly ok with trying something else

Did Schmaltz play with Hino last season?

Also, we need a call up. Don't play Archibald as a regularly FFS. I vote Bunting.

I'm guessing Schmaltz plays LW in the top six.

"Nick is a dynamic forward with top line potential," said Chayka. "We feel he can be a core player of our team now and into the future. He's a good complement to our evolving forward group and a rare combination of speed, skill and creativity."
