Well let me see..U.S. has 9 times poulationpf Canada ..yet Canada so far I the epidemic as of last report has only 504 deaths attributed to covid 19..That oughtvtobe only a bit over 4500 for the U.S. American mortality from Covid 19 ....but instead we see the U.S. claiming over 16 000 deaths!!

Does it make any sense it should be that bad?

A triumph of Canadain socialized medicine over the chaos of U.S. private hospitals?

Better do tors and nurse I Canada.

Or simply CanDiamd take more vitamin D SOURCES better immune systems to fight it whe they get infected?

Or simply that CNada never got a "hotspot"..but even given the MYC special case.. it only a ounts forNout 35% of all the U.S. death goal (was 55% a few weeks ago)...

Still NYC over 6000 dead to Canada at just over 500?

IT BOGGLES THE MOND!

THIS cannot be typical for other viruses like the flu where one expects death totals to be roughly proportional to the population size difference.

But so much greater death h rate in the U.S.?

Does not make any sense to me.
Either:
1.Anerican medical system way over its head in caring properly for the sickest..

Or

2.U.S. got a different version or more precisely 2 attack versions..or much more of the deadlier version than Canada got?

If this explains it ,then no other choice but to absolutely cofirm it was a designed bioweapon..With 1 strain milder I effect and a 2nd strain much more severe causing more mortality.

OR 3:

Candaian immune system was better in the aggregate than the American aggregate personal immune system readiness to withstand z viral attack...perhaps during to greater AmericNVitamin D deficiency?

So not know if any of these 3 explanations are true but something has to expkai why the Anerican death numbers so out of whack.
Or

4.Could American coding for the deaths be simply attributed to assumptions it was from covid 19 and not other co-mor oddity causes or even a mistaken assumption on covid 19 instead of flu or stress from being in hospital or other respiratory causes like pneumonia?
Have they done autopsies to confirm.not that the patient was infected with COVID 19,BUT o formula h death ess only caused by this Virus?
Or

5. The I.S. deliberately fudging the death numbers?If so...WHY?

(We can guess..somebody making da money).

Population density......

As sources of information are important, I thought this guide could be helpful for people.

I typically stick to the wire services as much as possible because their business model relies on them being able to sell to all types of outlets, and because of that, they’re typically incredibly straightforward and down the middle.

Also, notice how the cable networks are in the analysis/opinion/persuasion area of this chart.

My favorite sites are the Guardian, AP, and Reuters, in no particular order. Makes sense to me.

CNN should be a bit further left, IMO.

Where FOX NEWS falls on there... LOL. Extreme/unfair interpretations. Bordering on nonsense/damaging to public discourse. Yep.....

What's this chart based on?

Here’s a write up criticizing the chart. It looks like they use a three person panel, lib, conservative, and independent to make these

How Reliable Is the Ad Fontes Media Bias Chart?

I guess here’s a more updated version:

Ya, I think where things fall exactly is pretty nitpicky. The takeaway I have from this is AP/Reuters > CNN & friends, and that follows my professional experiences and personal opinion

It is a cool chart. Especially if you're looking for reliable and relatively objective news sources

Anyone else not working? What're you doing to pass the time? I'm lucky enough to still have school keeping me busy but this past week was our "spring break". Having nothing to do has been nowhere near as fun as i thought it would be.

Ya, I was surprised by that one. But I know a few reporters who work for them, and they do a darn good job, but I figured they were rare in that org.

Michael Shermer just came out with a book and it touches on the polarization of politics here in the US. I'm paraphrasing here but he compared some polls asking if people considered their political views to be: left, center-left, centrist, center-right, or right. Polls were done in 1994, 2004, and now IIRC. The division is insane now compared to 15/25 years ago and he said the major changes in political polarization came around when Obama was elected (not that Obama was the cause for it).

In an ideal world all of the media outlets would be scrunched way farther into the middle and it's sad to see so any outlets so far apart on the spectrum.

Absolutely agree.

I put a lot of blame on cable news, and I think they really ramped up their 24/7 coverage of the White House around the Obama years, and that was also when they really blurred the lines between objective news and biased commentary/talking heads fighting. All of it solely for ratings, and not to provide a public service.

Not sure whether any of that’s backed up in the book (a book I’m going to read, thank you for the suggestion) but that’s my own unscientific theory.

I like BBC as it is pretty much in The middle with no reason for political affiliation. And NPR, Fox, Polico. I like a mixture.

Well do to the covid fun going on and being without work for the foreseeable future. I just bought a deep freezer and I'm going to the cattle farm down the road tomorrow to pick and pay for a half a cow. Pretty pumped should be able to use most of the meat during the summer at the cottage.

Halfway through the post, I thought the freezer was for cryopreservation.

I went to the White Plains, NY Stop and Shop today and the aisles are marked with one way arrows. I had not noticed this at first and went the wrong way and a lady murmured "you're going the wrong way" through her mask. I then thought the White Plains Police should be writing tickets for taking your cart the wrong way! Pretty bad vibe at the place, certainly not a Good Friday feel. I feel that anarchy may soon occur, especially when the temperature starts to uncomfortably rise.
