It came to AZ in a furry. IT's disappearing quickly now. We should be good. Life will be back to normal soon.

Yep, and then the second wave will strike and we'll have massive spikes in the number of cases because people will have been morons. At this point I just hope it doesn't get bad enough to force another complete shutdown again.

And we need to get self-reliant ASAP as far as medicine and essential resources such as food go, other countries should too. It isn't protectionism, it is a measure of survivalism for nations now. The IMF and World Bank can go die in a ditch with their recommended guidelines for productivity and the repayment of debts because those are not helping, at all.

No second wave. That's just media porn.
My feeling is COVID has a lower threshold for some sort of herd immunity. New york is right around 3 percent for the virus and they have no problems. It will come and go much like MERS and SARS except obviously it was much more virulent.

We'll see this fall and over the winter if you're right. I sincerely hope that's the case but I'm not holding my breath.

It won't happen again. You have to understand the context of the complete shutdown. Nothing was known about that virus, the way it worked, who was affected the most etc. They closed everything down because it was flaring up like crazy everywhere, and people where dying in masses in Europe. Now 6 months later we have a much clearer picture of what is working and what is not, and the key for less deaths is to protect the old people. It flared for you guys in July, ok no panic, just wear a mask in public and bingo, it went down again.

Here in BC we were proud of our numbers, so low, and now, we are worse than you guys and nobody is panicking, not even Dr Bonnie Henry because hospitalisations remain low.

We have to keep the infection rate in check but it will never go back to a full shutdown. And some treatments are showing up now to help those in dire conditions, like Remdesivir, Interferon, Dexamethasone, and others will come up in next few months.

Mers and Sars were very different virus.
Sars infected 8,000 people in the span of more than year.
Mers infected 2,500 people since 2012 and it's still around, it's just not very contagious and hard to catch.

Not even in the same realms of virus.
Compraing them is wrong on so many level.

Will their be a 2nd wave?
If we do things right....we might get away with not much damage, it's all about keeping control of it.
If we don't keep control, then yes we will wave a 2nd wave.

It will come and go until we get a vaccine. After that it depends on the vaccine efficiency and how many people take it.

I'm pretty sure that a second wave is historically virtually guaranteed with pandemics. Where are you getting your information? Or is this your opinion?

Tell me all about the second wave of MERS and SARS?

As you can see New York has been riding along at 3 % for a while now.

Is there a second wave in China, Italy?

There was 3 wave of Mers......

"The second MERS-CoV wave in late 2014 and the third MERS-CoV wave in early 2015 appeared to be split by the influenza A epidemic."
Differences in the seasonality of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus and influenza in the Middle East

France who were reporting around 3000-3800 new cases a week since the beginning of May reported more than 17,000 new cases in the last 7 days, that's a 2nd wave.

Spain who also since the beginning of May reported around 2400 to 2600 new cases per week just reported more than 30,000 new cases in the last week.....also a 2nd wave.

But yeah....it's just media porn......
Seems like you've already been infected by the other virus going around.

Last I looked it up, 1-5 deaths per day were COVID-19 related.

The panic and insanity needs to stop. As much or more daily deaths are tied to the regular flu.

I don't see panic and I don't see insanity.....1-5 deaths a day it's not a lot, sure....but that's because we do things right and must continue to do it to keep those numbers down. We earn the right to think the way you do, we must not make the mistake to think it's over and we can just get back to normal.

They wear masks in NY.

Honestly the US would have very few problems with covid if everyone just wore masks when in public indoors. It's one of the simplest and easiest ways to protect yourself and others but for whatever reason many people there are just brainwashed against it.
