He completely dominated the WHL, whats more to learn there? He should move somewhere else
This is exactly what i was thinking as well, We might find out here soon.I wonder if part of the reason for signing Cossa to an ELC now is so if the CHL season is impacted again, the team be the one to help facilitate a loan for the kid elsewhere?
ELC slide exists, depends on his development how many games we see him on his ELC.He most likely won't play an NHL game under this contract.
Dude his contract will slide for 2 years, So that's basically 5 years under his current ELC. There's absolutely noway he's not seeing NHL time within 5 years. Let's be realistic here.He most likely won't play an NHL game under this contract.
Think he should go to Russia. That seems to best country producing Goaltenders. KHL has also multiple NHL-sized rinks, so that would prepare him better. Also think this is the reason why Russian goaltenders become so good for NHL.
4-5 maybe. 3 not likely.Dude his contract will slide for 2 years, So that's basically 5 years under his current ELC. There's absolutely noway he's not seeing NHL time within 5 years. Let's be realistic here.
That's probably reasonable enough, 4 years is probably reasonable. Would imagine 1 year with the Edmonton Oil Kings and then 2 seasons with Grand Rapids. Probably get his 9 games in in the 2023/2024 NHL season.4-5 maybe. 3 not likely.
Doing it for a whole season without Covid. Getting the long-season reps, dominating at the WJC against peers/future stars. He completely dominated the WHL, whats more to learn there? He should move somewhere else
No, what the team really needs to do is to figure out a way to steal Mitch Korn from the Isles without having to hire Trotz. If you don't know who he is, Google it.Think he should go to Russia. Yeah, then you know what I mean. (He's not a household name unless you're into goalies, only a couple of people here that I would assume know who he is.) I also want the goalie scout from the Caps, lol.I know who he is.
Trotz has 2 years left from his contract, BTW.
I wouldn't mind if whole coaching arsenal from Islanders comes to Detroit at 2023. Trotz + Lambert + Korn.
Right when Blash's contract runs out as wellI know who he is.

One more season in the CHL won't hurt him in any way.
Yeah. There's a lot of merit to getting him more experience against more veteran type competition. I just worry about the transition to and from bigger ice where sightlines and shot locations can really mess with a younger goalie's development.I rather see him go to the SHL or the Liiga, just like how Dostal did it (from Czech to Finland)
Hmmm, is he leaving the Oil Kings?
I may be reading too much into this but him thanking the Oil Kings kinda feels like a goodbye. I wonder if he is headed overseas for a season? Regardless, happy to have him signed and focusing on getting to Detroit as soon as is feasible.

Knight was drafted in 2019 and is still 20 years old. That’s kind of a ridiculously quick to start playing in the NHL.
Only 3 non-overage goalies have played more than 2 games in the NHL in their D+2 season since 2005-06: Lehner (2009 46th, 8GP), Bernier (2006 11th, 4GP) and Knight (2019 13th, 4GP).
17 non-overage goalies playing more than 2 games in their D+3 seasons since 2005-06: Mason (2006 69th, 61GP), Price (2005 5th, 41GP), Hart (2016 48th, 20GP), Vasilevskiy (2012 19th, 16GP), Halak (2003 271st, 16GP), Holtby (2008 93rd, 14GP), Matt Hackett (2009 77th, 12GP), Kevin Poulin (2008 126th, 10GP), Pavelec (2005 41st, 7GP), Varlamov (2006 23rd, 6GP), Neuverth (2006 34th, 5GP), Rask (2005 21st, 4GP), Hill (2015 76th, 4GP), Howard (2003 64th, 4GP), Prosvetov (2018 114th, 3GP), Quick (2005 72nd, 3GP) and Gibson (2011 39th, 3GP)
25 non-overage goalies playing more than 2 games in their D+4 seasons since 2005-06: Korpisalo (2012 62nd, 31GP), Oettinger (2017 26th, 29GP), Hellebuyck (2012 130th, 26GP), Jarry (2013 44th, 26GP), Ward (2002 25th, 28GP), Blackwood (2015 42nd, 23GP), Karri Rämö (2004 191st, 22GP), Saros (2013 99th, 21GP), Ullmark (2012 163rd, 20GP)
Grubauer (2010 112th, 17GP), David LeNeveu (2002 46th, 15GP), Murray (2012 83rd, 13GP), Montembeault (2015 77th, 11GP), Swayman (2017 111th, 10GP), Mrazek (2010 141st, 9GP), Toivonen (2002 29th, 9GP), Markstrom (2008 31st, 7GP), Bishop (2005 85th, 6GP), Kuemper (2009 161st, 6GP), Forsberg (2011 188th, 5GP), Tokarski (2008 122nd, 5GP), Luukkonen (2017 54th, 4GP), Primeau (2017 199th, 4GP), Greiss (2004 94th, 3GP) and Harding (2002 38th 3GP).
If I did this by age (with the last group being 22) then the list would be longer but it got annoying to make as is. (It seemed like a good idea at the time.) This was a time consuming way to say UPL is pretty much on time and Knight is ridiculous. (Which are very likely totally obvious points that just about everybody knows but sometimes I don’t make the best decisions.)
