Curt's big problem going forward is there will be no one to champion his case. Surprisingly jokes about lynching journalists don't garner you much outspoken support among journalists.

let's not act like there aren't some major d-bags in the HOF already

his political views shouldn't affect his chances but the reality is they will. if he keeps his mouth shut i can see him getting in in the future but if he keeps his antics up it won't happen for sure

The thing about Schilling is that he hasn't really done anything THAT bad. He has some unpopular Trump-ish political views (that apparently half his country agrees with) and he's kind of a surly jerk when dealing with reporters. Big whoop.

This isn't a guy who beat up his wife or was an alcohol/drugs abuser, or some sort of felon or menace to society. There are no gambling issues and he's been virulently anti-steriods. He's just kind of a grumpy redneck. And for that to be held against him like this for the BHOF is just ridiculous.

Character is literally one of the things the voters are supposed to use as criteria for their voting. And Schilling consistently acts like a complete asshat.

The character clause has to do with how they were during their playing career aka what they are being elected on. Has 0 to do with whatever they say or do afterwards.
