I think that’s fair. Halak is having a great season for Boston.

But I’m glad we actually got Lehner because he’s showing he’s capable of playing well even in our system. And he’s young 27.
After s blazing start, Halak has been pretty bad lately. Which is what he always does. He plays great when he has something to prove and terrible when he gets comfortable.

Always.

Agreed. Boston didn't give Halak his end of December/Mid January vacation errr sorry lower body stiffness trip to the ir.

Halak looks gassed the past 2 weeks

Barry Trotz is a winner. He does not lose. He’s the guy that bangs the prom queen.

That was pretty insane. The confidence he had, he basically gave the classroom enough time to process his promise and then swooshed it into the can. I don't know what's more impressive, the fact he got it in or the fact he guaranteed he would get it in and did so with no hesitation or doubt.

Sure , we could say it's just an empty gatorade bottle going into a recycling bin. But this is symbolism - that empty gatorade bottle is the Maple Leafs, that trash bin is elimination.

Trade him to a new team and he's a savior...at first

Send him to the minors and he comes back like brodeur...for a while

He needs to be under the gun or he sucks

You already said this. He was good here until Snow started jerking him around.
We missed the playoffs due to Snow.s banishment of Jaro.

Duhatschek Notebook: Barry Trotz on the importance of the Cup and the Islanders’ historic turnaround

Nowadays, people will talk about crimes of the century and storms of the century and the Tragically Hip even sang about getting Ahead by a Century. This, of course, is either brilliant poetry (in the case of Gord Downie) or silly hyperbole. The reality is, we get a storm of the century every couple of months; and crimes of the century on a frighteningly regular basis.

But now, here are the New York Islanders, who have a chance to duplicate something this season that actually hasn’t been done in the NHL for a full century.

No hype. All real.

Anybody see this?

How Barry Trotz has shaped the Isles' surprising season

Check it out. I thought the whole article was pretty good, including this:

When the Capitals presented Trotz with that 14-karat, 252-diamond bling donut in November, prior to facing their ex-coach for the first time, Trotz delivered a heartfelt speech in the visiting locker room of Barclays Center, at one point expressing confidence in Washington’s ability to repeat. And then, adopting a feistier tone, he added, “You’re going to have to go through the f------ Island, okay?”
