TORONTO — Former NHL tough guy Colton Orr has retired after a 13-year professional career.

Orr played 477 career NHL games Boston Bruins, the New York Rangers and Toronto, piling up 1,186 penalty minutes.
"I feel privileged to have played for a decade in the NHL and to have had the support of four great organizations in Boston, New York, Toronto and Calgary," Orr said in a statement. "I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play with great teammates and against great players, many of whom have become great friends.

"It has been an amazing journey that would not have been anywhere near as fulfilling as it was without the love and support of fans, friends, agents, GMs, coaches and family."

Wish him the best of health in retirement as he ages. Hope all that fighting doesn't leave long term permanent issues

Hopefully a good retirement for Orr. Was just his time to step away.

Did his role just fine out there, but things just change.

Watching him and Orr beat everyone up in that shortened season was fun to watch.

The game no longer has room for a player like him but it was damn fun while it lasted.

He played his role very well. He didn't get you points but wasn't a liability on the ice either. A dying breed of NHL tough guys. Respect for sure. Hope he has a healthy and enjoyable retirement

I liked Orr. In the beginning. I've no ill will towards the player. Honest player.

In fact, if I remember it correctly. He was actually very good on the 4th line his first year. Or was it the second.
