I'm not sold on them at all. They barely sneak one out against us, with a injury riddled lineup and I'm supposed to believe they are going to coast to the WCF?

Vegas is good, LA plays a frustrating style both will be very tough for Edmonton. And there is a good chance they will have to beat both.
I think the oilers are improved from last year - they appear to be better in net with Skinner but he's still a rookie so we'll see how he handles the playoffs. Ekholm seems to be rejuvenated but I think there's a time-limit attached to that. He was a complete non-factor when we played NSH in Round 1 last year.

As improved as edmonton is, the Kings have improved a bunch more since last year and that's a team that took the oil to 7 games a year ago. They appear to be destined to play each other again as LA only has 1 game left and it's against the ducks who will certainly NOT try to win after Chicago stupidly made their odds at Bedard worse by beating the Penguins last night (was it worth it, idiots?) I would take LA in a 7-game series as long as their goaltending holds up.

So Seattle is locked-in to that 7th seed and VGK only needs 1 point to win the West so I imagine the Kraken will be resting some players since they are not catching LA.

Thought the Avs played well considering the lineup they iced. It took the Oilers everything they had to beat the Avs ‘C’ team.

Not really many negative takeaways from me on this one. Thought Lars Eller was excellent. That dude competes his ass off. He doesn’t have much skill, but damn does that guy play hard.

Girard battling like he did in the corners is a positive for the playoffs. I don’t expect him to push people around, but if he can battle and wall players off, that’s enough.

The top line had some great moments, but their inability to pot one, felt like the difference in the game.

I asked for one point, and this team, held together by bandaids, got the job done. I don´t give a f*** that we lost in OT against the Oilers. Hell, we held their superstars in check. PK in OT is almost always deadly. Especially against the Oilers.

I am more than happy. We defended 1st place in the central, the Jets clinched and will rest players, Nashville is out and has nothing to play for. And Minny lost too, so we will have home-ice in Round 1.

The Central is ours to lose after tonight. Despite all our injuries this season.

Next time we face McDavid and company it, hopefully, will be with Makar, Manson, Lehky back in the line-up.

All good.
Exactly this. I wasn't expecting us to win last night. The deck was stacked extremely against us. A good healthy team should beat a team with 5 quality regulars out, including the best dman on the planet, two top 6 forwards, a top 4 dman and a PK specialist.

5 key players out, and Edmonton wins on a gimmicky 4v3 OT PP, that quite frankly shouldn't have been called. Edmonton played the hands all night and didn't called but the golden child gets a love tap in OT and refs give it to him.

Hell there was a play in the 3rd where Nieto was going to clear the puck and the Edmonton player literally from behind puts his stick around Nieto's waist and hooks him down to the ice. Luckily Nieto got the puck out so it didn't cost us. But if you aren't going to call that, then how the f*** do you call Byram's grazing of the hands in OT?

Needless to say in a game where the odds were extremely against us, we played fine a got the needed point to maintain our advantage. Other than that not going to take much from it.

Yeah, and I also disagree that the Avs sleepwalked through the game. The Avs were battling very hard tonight. It's not like the Oilers were skating circles around them.

Like Bednar said, the high danger chances were low tonight and statistically it was 9-8 for Edmonton. They win this game on a mistake by Byram and a PPG in overtime.

The Avs played very hard tonight. The lack of talent was clearly evident as the game went on.
2nd and 3rd lines were nonexistent and you need them to counter weight the Oilers first.

Given the year long struggle with injuries, a matchup with Seattle is a huge win for me. Grubauer and Jones? Yes please. Just avoid the Kings, that's a team that I could easily see make a run. Frustrating team to play against with shutdown guys (Kopitar and Danualt) that can keep up with us. Plus the NHL world wants to see a Kings vs Knights 1st round. Lot of great story lines in that.
At this point LA needs to get 1 point against Anaheim to be the 3 in the Pacific and Vegas needs 1 point against Seattle to lock up 1st in the Pacific.

The most likely scenario is 1. Vegas 2. Edmonton 3. LA

Vegas gets Winnipeg

Edmonton gets LA, which is a nightmare matchup for Edmonton LA is tough and plays a frustrating style, it will not be a cakewalk for Edmonton like some tend to think it will be.

Seattle will get the winner of the Central.

I just don't see it. Avs had one goal yesterday and it was because Bjugstad put it in his own net (it should count as an own goal). Avs had one other chance and that was MacKinnon hitting the post when they actually woke up. Avs played awful last night offensively, there was not major save Skinner had to make, and even that Toews chance was meh at best. He more redirected it than giving a solid shot off. Easy save if your stick was in proper position, which it was.

Having the opportunity to force dallas and the mild to face each other in the first round is absolutely something and for an Avs team playing their 3rd game in 4 nights coming home after a long road trip without TWO top-4 d-men which includes the best d-man in the league AND TWO Top-6 Forwards in Lando & Leks and facing a rested edmonton team, personally I'm really proud of the way the team played tonight.

Not sure why anyone wouldn't be.

Yeah, the game felt like a tight checking close game the whole way and it was. Both goalies had some moments of absolute thievery too.

No kidding. Dude butchers it worse than pretty much anyone.

Someone needs to just tell him it's Nuke, move on lol.

That is one thing, for all we talk about holding their stars off, they did the same to us. I expected better, but it also goes to show Makars impact in games like this.

When the team dials in defensively, and plays the right way he's key in allowing the big guys to break free offensively.

So is Lehky when it comes to helping out the defence.

I seen responsible Avs hockey last night, with them putting work in, but we are just depleted enough we couldn't quite break it open. Edmonton was frustrated as hell.

That is a building block for the playoffs. The Dallas game was similar. They are not going to walk over most teams, so I want them playing the right way as a team and committed to it even with injuries.

I'll take the point and a step towards dialing it in.

Oh, and nice job on trolling Leon. We know they probably read it.

Our 2nd line featured Nuke, JT and a 4th liner in Malgin.

When you are playing 4th liners on the 2nd line it's going to be a struggle. Unfortunately since captain can't seem get healthy it's going to be much the same in the playoffs.
Lehkonen or Rodrigues will take Malgin’s spot.

Lol they love to throw shade at other fanbases for being whiny or lacking knowledge yet the majority of Oilers posters are some of the least knowledgeable posters on this site.

Are they saying that Rantanen sucks, like some of our posters/Draisaitl?

More along the lines of:

- Avs fans know nothing
- Avs fans want the refs to help their team win games
- Avs are a bunch of divers
- Avs can't handle the Oilers
- McDavid/Draisaitl nowhere near their A games yesterday but Oilers easily shut down MacKinnon/Rantanen

etc. It's one of the biggest annoyances living in the city. The absurd homerism from fans.

It's like having Toronto envy you, but you actually have to play these f***ers more.

Kadri was our scuba specialist, and he's gone.

Cannot imagine living there lol. I'm glad I didn't live in Detroit during you know..

At least now it's more, yeah those days were fun.

The fans in Edmonton are a huge reason why I love to see that team lose, especially in the playoffs. It's incredibly satisfying because they'll never truly lose.

No no no, there is ALWAYS something that happened.

Lose to the Avs? Lol refs cost the Oilers and the league wanted the Avs in the finals.
Lose to the Jets? Refs weren't calling anything, Jets got away with murder. Oilers win if it's regular season reffing.
Lose to the Blackhawks? League wanted the Oilers out, that's why they had them play in the qualifier instead of the actual playoffs.
Lose to the Ducks? Goalie interference in game 5 Oilers should have won in 6 league wanted the Ducks to advance.

There's truly never a time where they can realize they actually, you know, lost.

Is the superiority complex really living on from the Gretzky days? I mean I remember the paper bags, etc. Back then I thought their fan base had appropriate outrage, and some creativity lol.

Does dust make excuses when it's swept.
If no, what does that make the Oiler fanbase?
