Seems like a solid trade to improve the team, a fair deal at a time when we usually see inflated prices. Time will tell, as with all trades.

I had a fun time in the summer arguing with people how Namestnikov's value is not "at least a 2nd round pick". Instead, he gets flipped twice for a 4th round pick.

He's not just a valuable player in GM's eyes.

Wow, figured he’d be worth more. Didn’t Ottawa trade a “better” 4th to acquire him? Felt like he bumped his value up a bit since then. They actually seem to have downgraded a 4th in this process. Good pickup for Colorado though.

They downgraded their 4th but also got a season of Namestnikov, which has more value than a 20 pick jump in the 4th round (worth maybe a 6th or 7th?)

Nice pickup for Colorado. He’s very versatile and can fill in up and down the lineup.

I predicted a 4th + Jost for Namestnikov + 6th on the Avs board yesterday.

So we certainly did way better than I expected and got a guy I expected us to get. Yet another good deal by Joe Sakic.
Is Jost just a Yakupov-level throw in now? I think Sens fans were predicting a 3rd return of investment on the 4th round pick we put in. I'd have thought Jost was worthy of a 2nd.
