Jost might be able to get a Nuke contract
Based on your estimate of Jost’s ceiling, what’s the dollar threshold where he’s too expensive for what he brings?

Honestly, I don't see us catching Vegas so you might as well sit him the rest of the regular season. Also don't play Makar or Toews a second over 20 minutes. Give the big minutes to Nemeth/Timmins/Graves/MacDonald.
Bednar won't do it, obviously. I wish he would, though.

well, this was what we hoped for when we drafted him
Who are you?I like your choice to go with double spacing. It makes it clean and easier to read. Did you write it in Word first?
I’m Buster Dalrymple. Nice to meet ya!
No seriously, who are you? Are you some random poster of a different team popping into our boards to troll? Did you change your name from something else?
I dont know who you are.

I thought it was a reference to Community.
Well with minimal effort you can look at my recent post history. Because most of it’s going to be in the Avs forum, one might conclude that I’m an Avs fans and not some infidel trolling.
Kudos to Jost of course. But doesn't our coaching staff (they brought in a skating specialist IIRC) also deserve credit for helping Jost to work on and develop his game? I mean that's one thing we've always criticized about this organization. I'm not one for coaching so I can't say how much improvement is due to the coaches' assistance but I have to think JB and his staff have had something to do with it.
This is not an anti-Newhook post because I think he's been absolutely fine in his two games. I also want to say that what we're seeing is not the finished product, but I hope people understand why @henchman24 and I said what we did about his skating ability. He isn't really anything special in the pros, above-average and won't fail because of it, but isn't close to the same pace that MacKinnon, Makar, or even Duchene are. He gets around just fine and honestly that matters more than being super fast in straight line speed, but I think a lot of people overrated his skating ability because he was able to outskate BCHL and college pylons.
Yup… he’s a good skater and technically very sound. He’s not elite. I worry about it more at center than wing especially at his size. That said, he’s gonna be a top 6 guy even if he’s on wing. He’s a good player.
The Avs seem to go to it far to often. You wanna put someone in the bumper let it be Mackinnon. Rantanen is putting those passes to Donskoi right on the tee and Donskoi just cant.
Exactly. Donskoi shouldnt be the last touch on the PP with all those other players on the ice. Donskoi scores 90% of his goals in and around the crease so having him there would be much better use of his "talent" Trying to turn him into Hejduk on the PP has yielded no results. They tried Mack in the bumper spot for one powerplay, it didn't work and they never tried it again.
Their powerplay makes no logical sense to me. One of MacKinnons few weaknesses for me is his one timer so naturally he's being fed one timer opportunities the entire time.
The way the powerplay moves really creates chances for the man in the bumper slot, so to maximize scoring potential they put... Donskoi there?
MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog and Makar on the ice and you want... Donskoi to have the prime scoring chances?
I just don't get it.

What the Avs need to do is find tape from the start of 2019 until now of the Oilers' PP and study it like crazy. So much movement. Such precision with their passing. Taking what's given to them and actually utilizing the extra man to their advantage. They tried Mack in the bumper spot for one powerplay, it didn't work and they never tried it again.

Those two know how to utilize open ice better than any players in the league. Its big brain hockey when they have the PP.What the Avs need to do is find tape from the start of 2019 until now of the Oilers' PP and study it like crazy. So much movement. Yeah, they have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl but it's not like our PP is employing scrubs. Difference is, to me, the movement. The Oilers are ALWAYS in motion, especially McDavid and Draisaitl. Our guys stand still. MacKinnon and Rantanen want to go back and forth cross-ice while standing still and waiting for an inch of passing lane to open up. It's no wonder Mikko turns the puck over so much trying those ridiculous passes.
